On the day, the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel:  “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the valley of Aijalon.”  So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.  The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.  There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a man.  Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!

An incredible account of the day the Earth stopped its rotation so that the sun and moon stood still in the middle of the day… when the man of God, leading the nation of God, increased the time he had to finish the work he needed to do against the enemies of Israel so that Israel could avenge themselves against the Amorites.  This miracle happened because Joshua needed the extra time and also because Joshua and Israel were obedient to God at that time.  After Joshua, miracles of such magnitude were far and few in between.  Now if you look at Joshua 10.11:  …the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them from the sky, and more of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites. And this happened just because Joshua asked the Lord.

Now, what would happen if Jesus asked the Father… because it is written in the Book of the Revelation:  From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men.  And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

If the Lord was fighting for Israel that day, then consider, elect, if disciples and believers who are obedient to the words of Jesus, as Israel under Joshua was obedient to the words of Moses, are available for God to use to exact His vengeance upon His enemies and the enemies of the Kingdom of God.  By now you should know and understand the importance of the Kingdom of God to the Lord compared to the Kingdom of Israel.  Though the eleven were looking forward to the restoration of Israel and parts of the church are looking forward to the building of the so-called third temple, understand for yourself vengeance for His Son and His Kingdom.

Now, what was Joshua’s secret, if you like, that he could say this to the Lord and have it done as he said… making time stand still so that he and Israel could finish the work?  The same secret that you should have, elect… the secret of knowing what God has in His heart and mind.  Joshua’s hatred for the Amorites was not just borne out of their previous experiences but also from God’s promise:  “I will drive out before you the Amorites….” on the day that the Lord said to Moses, “I am making a covenant with you…” So the confidence of Joshua in speaking to the Lord as he did, came from knowing not just the promise of God, but the very nature of God who keeps His word and covenant, as well as the heart and mind of God… what God had in mind for the Amorites… and that was to wipe them out of Canaan.  Knowing that, Joshua knew asking God for an extension of time to complete the battle so as to wipe out the Amorites more thoroughly would be the right thing to do, so as to ensure that they would not be a problem in the future again.

Likewise, the flexibility and the malleability of time is available to those who are following Jesus closely enough to know not only His word or ways, but what He has in mind, and to see the opportunity that is presenting itself now for the Lord to exact His vengeance on those who are His enemies and those who have made a mockery of His salvation.

In order to ensure that all who hold any enmity towards the Lord and disdain for the Lord’s way are revealed and eliminated, the time will come again when the Lord will harden the hearts of men so that they will curse God and will want to gather their armies together to fight Jesus and His elect on their arrival, as it was recorded in Joshua 11:  Except for the Hivites living in Gibeon, not one city made a treaty of peace with the Israelites, who took them all in battle.  For it was the Lord Himself who hardened their hearts to wage war against Israel, so that He might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Joshua understood this desire of God to exterminate the Amorites without mercy because of their interbreeding with demons to produce the descendants of Nephilim, and so could ask for an extension of time.  Likewise, understanding what God wants to do now to the prostitute, her children and the sons of Satan will allow you to extend your time as if the sun and moon also stood still.  Indeed, if what we are to do must be kept hidden from the sight of men like the work of Christ from the sixth hour to the ninth hour had to be kept hidden from the eyes of his enemies and mockers… the sun itself will not only stand still, but stop shining as it did for Joshua.

The sun, that star which we rotate around to give us the estimates of the passage of time and a measure of time, can be stopped and even stop shining so that the work of God can be completed and in the secrecy He wishes.  So take heart and be confident in your attitude to time that is available to all who are doing the will of God.  The world fears that it is running out of time as measured by the degree of carbon being pumped into the air and the amount of pollution that is left, and Satan is furious because he knows his time is short.  However, elect, be neither furious nor fearful, for time is being shortened for your survival, but not for your work.  Only those who lack the power to continue to work and are in danger of succumbing to the days of distress, will have their days shortened.  However, for those who are focussed on the work of the Lord, then the lengthening of your days and the shrouding of them in darkness so that you may work in complete secrecy will happen.

It is now about the knowing of the heart and mind of God that will permit you to stop time as it were, like Joshua, until your work is finished.  And if you have in mind the extermination of all of Christ’s enemies from His land and Kingdom, then you will find that, like Joshua, there is time enough to do what needs to be done as if the sun and moon have stood still, and for the enemies of God, the relief they seek from you will so escape them that they would be like the Amorites longing for the sun to set and the day to end.

Joshua was a disciple of Moses who stayed with Moses and observed the God of Moses enough so that the God of Moses became the God of Joshua… and that is his secret in coming to know the heart and mind of God.

For you, elect, your continued discipleship under the Holy Spirit in knowing what Jesus said and did, how He said and did it, and now to also know where and when He said and did what is written, is so that you may observe the God of Jesus until He is your God and the Father of Jesus until He is your Father.

Then time itself will submit to you as it submitted to Joshua because, as Joshua needed the time to exterminate God’s enemies, so shall time submit to your will and to your word for the extermination of God’s present enemies.  And why would time submit to you, elect?  Because time is a creation of God and indeed, it is the first of God’s creation for this age.  Without time, there is no age.  So the moment God said, “Let there be light…” and there was, time came into being.  Time itself being part of creation seeks to be redeemed so that like the rest of creation, it is also groaning waiting for the sons of God to be revealed.

When there was a man of God who knew God’s heart, time submitted and the sun and moon stood still.  When the Son of God walked the Earth, time submitted and shortened itself for Him as the boat reached the shore immediately.

If you have not used time to listen… to time’s Creator;

if you have not used time to practise… the words of time’s Creator;

if you have not used time to come to know… the Creator of time…

then you should not expect time to submit and conform to your wish and will.

However, if you have used the time to listen, to practise and to come to know the Creator so that He is now as much your God and your Father as He is the God and Father of Jesus, so that, “ask whatever you wish, what ye will, and it will be given you,” then should it surprise you at all that all things created will likewise give you whatever you wish and will from the first to the last?

So, when the last that was made asks the first that came into being so that what God has in mind is accomplished… what do you think will happen?  All things are subject and submitted to time, for it was before all created things, but itself submits to the Creator… then likewise, how much more will it submit to the one who honours the Creator and is honoured by the Creator?  “Those who honour Me I will honour, but those who despise Me will be disdained.”

When time sees you using it to honour its Maker, time will submit to your honour; when time sees you using it to disdain its Maker, time will conspire with all of creation for your dishonour.  That is why, elect, the two instruments available to Joshua’s generation to measure the passage of time, submitted to Joshua because he was a man who sought God’s honour.

Honour God with time, then time will honour you too.
