“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would be without sin; but now they have no excuse for their sins.  He who hates Me hates My Father also.  If I had not done works before their eyes, such as no other man has ever done, they would be without sin; but now they have seen and hated Me and also My Father, so that the word which is written in their law may be fulfilled, ‘They hated Me for no reason, without cause.’”[1]

Just as the Israelites were willing to listen and obey everything that the Lord their God would tell Moses, who was the intermediary between themselves and the Lord,[2] so likewise their descendants, the Jewish crowd who were witnesses and partakers of the feeding of the miraculous fish and bread, were willing to perform God’s works,[3] which Jesus told them about as He prepped them for surgery: “Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you.  For God the Father has given Me the Seal of His approval.”[4] … This seal that is the Holy Spirit without limit.[5]

They had rightfully perceived that He was the Prophet who was to come into the world,[6] for this was in answer to their ancestors’ request of the Lord their God at Mount Sinai, which Moses quoted them as saying, “Don’t let us hear the voice of the Lord our God or see this blazing fire, for we will die.”[7]

Yet incredibly now, though they had eaten of the miraculous multiplication of five barley loaves and two fish that fed not just five thousand men, but also all the women and children who were with them,[8] and which was in such abundance that it left twelve baskets of leftovers; they replied to Jesus, “Show us a miraculous sign if You want us to believe in You.  What work will You do?”  They were just like their forefathers, for this was their barricaded response out of the hardness of their hearts to Him telling them that, quite simply, the only work God wants from them is to believe in the One He has sent.[9]  Listen to Him!

And so it was that the Lord had said to Moses in reply to their willingness to do the works of God, but not willing to have a direct relationship with Him, “What they say is good.[10]  What they have said is right,” they WILL die… “I WILL raise up a Prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites.  I WILL put My words in His mouth, and He WILL tell the people everything I command Him.  I WILL personally deal with anyone who will not listen to My words that the Prophet speaks in My Name.”[11]

For they saw God as their Father; but they did see not the Father as their God…  For if God were their Father, as they so claimed, they would love Jesus because He came to them from God[12] to save the whole world that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life,[13] and they would instantly and joyfully recognise Him, for He is the exact representation of God’s being.[14]

And so Jesus followed His discourse through with the gentle tip of His razor sharp sword and made the precise delicate opening, the first cut, when He told them that it was not Moses who fed them, but His Father, and now His Father was offering them true Bread from Heaven, the true Bread of God that gives life to the world.[15]  …Oh yeah… They want it…

He pierced further… as He told them that He is that Bread, the Bread of Life, and that whoever comes to Him will never be hungry again, and whoever believes in Him will never be thirsty.  “BUT…” He slices swiftly… You haven’t believed in Me even though you have seen Me.”  “HOWEVER…” He deftly raises His sword again, “Those the Father has given Me will come to Me…”[16]  Then as if in rhythmic calming, He recedes, “And THIS is the WILL of God who sent Me, that I should not lose even one of all those He has given Me…”  Then He quickly opens up the wound, “For it is My Father’s WILL that all who see His Son and believe in Him should have eternal life.  I WILL raise them up at the last day.”[17]

BANG!  Did you hear it?  Do you see it?  The first nail had been driven home…  And so the people began to murmur in disagreement, complaining and grumbling because He had declared Himself to be the Bread that came down from Heaven, for they knew Him as the son of Joseph and they knew both Joseph His father and Mary His mother.[18]  How is this possible?  How can this be?  Not possible… they were shaking their heads.

But Jesus was in for the ‘kill’ and so He continued wielding His sword, and told them to stop complaining because no one can come to Him unless the Father who sent Him draws them to Him. He quoted the prophet Isaiah, “‘They WILL all be taught by God.’”  And explained, “Everyone therefore who hears from the Father and learns from Him WILL come to Me”[19]  Oh!  So now He has said that if they don’t come to Him they are not listening to the Father… but they are side-swiped by His next words and hardly notice that cut, for He immediately slashes deftly again, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.  Yes, I AM the Bread of Life!  Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died.  Anyone who eats the Bread from Heaven, however, will NEVER die.  I AM the living Bread that came down from Heaven.  Anyone who eats this Bread will live forever, AND… this Bread, which I WILL offer so the world may live, is MY flesh.”[20]

BANG!  The people began to argue sharply, quarrelling amongst themselves, “HOW CAN this MAN give us HIS flesh to eat?[21]  Talk about the Big Cat amongst the pigeons!

It is not so ironic that He violently wielded His sword with controlled fury whilst He was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum, the disciples’ chosen place of disobedience when He had told them to go to Bethsaida.[22]  But rather, they had agreed amongst themselves to go to Capernaum in the hearing of the crowd, for it is recorded the crowd knew where to look for them.[23]  But Jesus had said about this place that exalted itself because He had lived there,[24] yet rejected the Source of its exaltation: “And you people of Capernaum, will you be honoured in Heaven?  No, you will go down to the place of the dead.  For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today.  I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgement day than you.”[25]

Yet Jesus’ arm was in full swing with His sword lashing with whip like force… crack…!  Crack…!  Cutting and dividing joints and marrow, as He drove deep the message given Him by the One who sent Him:  I tell you the truth, UNLESS you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you CANNOT have eternal life within you.  But anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I WILL raise that person at the last day.  For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.  Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in Him.”  SLASH…!  SLASH…!  “I live because of the living Father who sent Me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on Me WILL live because of Me.  I AM the true Bread that came down from Heaven.  Anyone who eats this Bread will not die as your ancestors did… but WILL live forever.”[26]

BANG!  BANG!  The second nail had finished its work!  For many of His disciples said, “This is very hard to understand.  How can anyone accept it?  Who can listen to it?”[27]

Oh yes, Jesus knew exactly, precisely what He was doing.  He was well aware that the disciples were murmuring, complaining and grumbling…  So He surreptitiously commented, “Does this offend you?  Does this cause you to stumble?  Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to Heaven again?  The S/spirit alone gives eternal life.  Human effort accomplishes nothing…”  And His words judged the thoughts and attitudes of their hearts, as He cleaned to divide their soul from their spirit,[28] “The very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.  But some of you do not believe Me,”[29]

BANG!  BANG!  BANG!  The third and final nail was hit into its precise place as He made the flawless fatal cut, “For THIS reason I have told you that no man can come to Me unless it is given to him by My Father.”[30]

At this point, just because of this saying, a great many of His disciples turned away and did not walk with Him.[31]  For they did not see the Father as their God… they did not desire a relationship with Him, and they did not want the W/way to have eternal life—to know the Father, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One He sent to Earth.[32]

But we cannot come to Jesus unless the Father gives us to Him, and without Jesus, we cannot come to the Father, and no one can truly know the Father except those whom Jesus chooses to reveal Him to.[33]  For He alone is the Way to the Father…  NO ONE can come to the Father except through Jesus![34]

John 6.66 shows us that those who refuse to come to Jesus to listen to Him are those who will receive the mark of 666, for they will not believe in the Son nor listen to Him in the prescribed W/way, and as they will not listen to Him to obey His commands and adhere to His teachings, they will never come to know the Father as their God, even though they may worship God as their ‘Father’.

And so they will be made to worship god as their father, the one who is raised up as god by he who is the false prophet.[35]  For the attitude of their minds will become the stamp their forehead receives, and the work of their hands will be the stamp their hands receive.  For it is the attitude of man who thinks he can come to God his way, and the work is man who thinks he can earn life through his own righteousness, a way not prescribed by God at ALL, for the Levitical Law was given to show us our need of a Saviour… And… that Saviour gave us His laws so that He could bring us to and reveal to us… the Father!

Thank You, Holy Spirit.
