The Truth

Download the pdf file

Jesus said to some Jews, that is, Israelites who had lost their kingdom and were still in exile from the promises of God, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” [John 8.31-32]  What is this truth that is revealed when a person who becomes a disciple of Jesus comes to know if he holds onto His teachings?  Indeed, is this the truth that Pilate asked Jesus about when he said, “What is truth?” [John 18.38]

The truth that Jesus came to testify about, for the knowledge of truth begins with testimony and evidence to collaborate that testimony, is that God who made this world loves this world and to those who believe this, Jesus reveals the Father who is God.  So this is truth:

  • God is the Creator, He made this world.
  • God loves, He loves this world.
  • God is Father and He has a Son.
  • And He is Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and anyone who holds onto His teachings will find the evidence that allows the testimony of God to be verified beyond a shadow of a doubt.

But why is it important for you and me to know exactly who God is?  Because if you know who God is, then you will know who you are.  You will come to the truth about yourself and that is the truth which sets you free.  No longer bound by myths and theories, no longer held back by guilt and doubt.  Indeed, if there is no God and you know it, then you are free to be the atheist you always wanted to be instead of being a hypocrite who still says, “Oh God!” when disaster strikes.

So the truth that is revealed in Jesus’ teachings to His believers, even those who have disobeyed God’s commandments to them like the Jews of Jerusalem in His days, is the knowledge with evidence as to who God is, and not only who He is but what He is as a Person, and that Person is revealed in Jesus through Jesus, through His every word, through how He said each word, and through all His actions and His relations with those whom He lived among, no matter what they did to Him or for Him.

However, when the disciples of Jesus abandoned the teachings of Jesus for the recommendations of James the Younger in Acts 15 and encouraged that we gentiles would do well to practise this, we lost the truth and filled the church with lies and hypocrisy, so much so that Paul wrote to the church in Galatia about the hypocrisy of the apostle Peter. [Galatians 2]

So, what is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, doing now through His elect who have listened to and hold onto the teachings of Jesus?  He is about to reveal the truth that has been lost… the truth about God and about men through Jesus Christ’s return for His millennial reign.

His testimony about Jesus Christ is the start of this process.  The miracles you will do on His behalf will be the evidence so that all may know the truth about God and about men.

So then, what can we do?  We do as John the Baptist did and call all to repentance so that the truth can be restored to them.
