The whole design of the temple is to focus in on the Holy of Holies.  The design of the gold lined walls and floor and the thick curtain was so that the din from the busyness of what was happening around the temple – the worshippers and the slaughtering of the sacrifices – would not hinder one who had entered the Holy of Holies from listening to the One with whom he or she was speaking face to Face.

There was only one who had entered this place when Jesus walked the Earth, and that one was able to focus in even in the midst of Martha’s banging of the pots and the jovial activities of the disciples, just like the noises at the temple.  Nothing else mattered.  It did not matter whether it looked right, but what did matter was who she was listening to, what He was saying, and how He was saying it.

There is a design and a pattern for this temple, and those who find it are few.  Even for those who find it, the pattern is so intricate that it takes constant adjustment, and many of the few go no further, but think it is enough to remain where they are.  They ask for love, mercy and grace from God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  But they do not consider that they miss out on the greater glory they could give the Son, their Saviour, His Father and the Holy Spirit.  And so they neglect to honour Them in not continuing to finish the course to complete the whole pattern of the temple.  This is why those who desire to go further are only able to continue by ongoing repentance.

For as with the disciples who felt each his measure of importance –

  • The importance of being chosen and elected;
  • The importance of being so ‘close’ to Him;
  • Importance because of the miracles He had done and of the attention to Him and to them that the miracles drew.
  • Importance because the understanding of His teachings in the parables was given to them, for when the disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do You speak to the people in parables?”  He replied, The knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven and of the Kingdom of God has been given to you, but not to them.  Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance.  Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.  This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.  In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.  For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes.  Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’  But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.  For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
  • Importance because He had sent the twelve out with His authority on three separate occasions during their discipleship.  First with authority over demons and to heal every disease and sickness as they preached the message that the Kingdom of Heaven was near, then with authority over demons, and on their return they were given the power and authority to drive out all demons and heal all diseases and sent out to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. And later the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him… These seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your Name.”
  • And importance because He privately told His disciples, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.  For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” For He had just said, “All things have been committed to Me by My Father.  No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.” Oh how our hearts likewise so easily swell with the pride of self-importance!

Yet this is the very place where we need to be in continuous repentance through willing, imperative, humble, submissive obedience as we are in danger of becoming comfortable here thinking ourselves right with God, and may have already, so think it is enough to remain where we are.  We may be joyful like the seventy-two that Jesus had to say to them, “Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you; but rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.” And so we are in the liability of remaining in the exhilaration of success, settling there to go no further, never to enter the Holy of Holies for the singular purpose of carefully listening to the Father to drink in everything He wishes to say and how He would say it… even to commune with Him in holy precious silence, hearing only the sound of His breath and the beat of His heart whilst hawk-like studying His every movement, patiently waiting for the moment He may choose to make known to you His thoughts heart to heart…

Mary listened carefully to Jesus, her Lord, for what she was doing, the action of it, was soaking in all that the Father gave Him to say, and so was able to respond to His words and return to Him agape mixed with philandros, displayed with a holy and tender reverence for He whom she so loved when she prepared His body for burial.  About this Mary, Jesus said, “Leave her alone.  Why criticize her for doing such a good, beautiful, thing to Me.  You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to.  But you will not always have Me.  She has done what she could and has anointed, poured perfume on, My body for burial ahead of time.  I tell you the truth, wherever the Gospel is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.” Yet His disciples, who suffered such self-importance that they were prone to argue amongst themselves which one was the greater of them, did not understand or appreciate what she was doing for her Lord, their Teacher, for they had not themselves entered into the Holy of Holies as they had neither eaten nor drunk of His words and clung to them to patiently produce a huge harvest, for even though they had heard the sound of them, they actually did not listen to hear, retain and understand them.

Therefore, what does it take to remain in the intricate pattern of the Design of the Temple so that we may also enter the Holy of Holies?

We must have gone beyond the basic acknowledgement of our sin and need for salvation through Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone… and responded with deep gratitude and humility to the forgiveness extended to us through the Covenant for the Forgiveness of Sins, which Jesus forged with His Father and sealed with the pouring upon it the all of His blood, to have become full partakers of this Covenant, but yet not rested here.  Many of us are obliviously unaware of our true sinfulness and consequently feel neither deeply nor acutely pertinent about God’s gifts to us and Their sacrifices for us.  We do not know what it is like to be one aggressively thrown in front of a crowd at Jesus’ feet by religious men accusing her and demanding that she be stoned for the sin of adultery… to then receive no condemnation in such a kindly compassionate way with such shrewd justice that her very accusers were made to realise they were also worthy of a similar sentence to that which they had demanded for her, for each slipped away one by one leaving her alone with her Saviour.  Neither do we know what it is like to zealously hunt down members of the cult called “The Way” to rid the face of the Earth of them and their sacrilegious ‘false teachings’, yet to be confronted in such a powerful, merciful and honourable way by the very One rumoured to have started this movement—that He would forgive and save this one and exchange what he was with WHO HE IS – giving him a truly righteous purpose for his zeal, packaged with the fullness of The Truth and knowledge of The Holy One of God.  Nor do we know what it is like to be a hardened, arrogantly cruel slave trader with no prior respect for human fairness or dignity, yet to be then saved, washed clean, softened and made humble by such amazing grace… for such is the active power of the nature changing glory of God…

But that is also who we are with all our ugly sins, hidden and exposed, which carry death to our members, distort our thoughts, crush our spirit and bring certain danger to our soul… no better than anyone else in our unrighteous self-righteous judgments of ourselves and others, just like the two men in Jesus’ parable:   “The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.  I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’  But the tax collector stood at a distance.  He would not even look up to Heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’  I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God.  For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” For we are one and all sinners saved by such astonishing grace, saved by overflowing compassion in irrefutable justice with pristine righteousness, saved by such generous mercy in sanctified holiness for glorious honour… saved by God who is Love!

Therefore, we must continuously implore the Holy Spirit for revelation of our truthful, still diminished state even at each deeper higher level of growth, for the closer we draw near to the Light the less obtuse to us is any sin within… not anyone else’s but just our very own, finding our own so troublesome that we can only focus on overcoming by repentance and mastery of sin…  And He will guide us into all truth as He convicts and counsels, even as He makes known to us the things held within the Son that are of the Father, treasures that our minds could not conceive, more than we ever dreamt possible and dared not believe for to know – for even as we draw into Their Inner Circle, the slightest neglect on our part in not responding to Them is a sin which devastates, for if They were to allow us to enter the fullness of Their eternity with even the most miniscule hint of sin in us, it would have a catastrophic cataclysmic effect on eternity.

Yet there is the delicate balance of understanding one’s sinful nature without being self-absorbed and bearing false humility, being unable to move forward when we are looking at ourselves instead of leaving what is of the past behind, repented of, forgiven of, and now no more than a memory that has played its part in forming the new character with its subsequent testimony of God’s glorious grace and gracious glory working in our lives… to rather, looking forward only to Jesus to be wholly Christ-absorbed.

So it is absolutely imperative that we willingly apply humble, submissive obedience continuously as we grow through listening to Jesus to hear and obey what the Holy Spirit is saying to us both as a church and in His personal individual counsel.  This is not to earn merit points for the exaltation of ourselves, but we eagerly comply because of a hunger to get to know the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit intimately with an earnest heartfelt motive to honour Them.  And when They discipline, rebuke or even strike us, we have no self-justification, but remain always in continuous repentance, gratefully acknowledging our Lords’ unmatchable, superior understanding in height and depth, width and breadth of good and evil, obedience and rebellion, righteousness and wickedness, knowing They always apply Their corrections in refinement of us lovingly and faithfully in perfect justice, righteousness and truth.  And so we put our ongoing affirmation of trust in Them with every new situation that appears on our horizons, for…  we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Thank you Paul.)

For though we are to be of the nature of Christ, dying to ourselves, we know that unlike Jesus, without His redemption even before the very beginning – for He is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world – we would be contending with a short mortality due to sin reigning in our members, with no life of our own that is not held within Him but only the surety of a death devoid of eternal life… for we are born in sin and sin is our nature, the good that we would do we do not and the evil we would not do we do, like an annoying glitch in our program that keeps spitting out errors.  But the good news is that His word, Jesus’ words that is, overwrites the old sin nature as we listen, hold onto and retain by the practising of them.  So we become acutely well aware of His gracious generosity and so have fragile sensitivity yet steely resolve in like manner to the needs of all others, so much so that you will do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a Man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! For He redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, therefore …do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault.

You desire the ALL of God, yet give your Father, older Brother and Counsellor the freedom to give to whomever They desire for whatever purpose They have in mind without having your hand up in front of others (even taking a step back without the doing of it made known), so that They may have the pleasure to hand out in whatever portion They delight to give to whomever whenever They desire…  Even when it may not be you time and time again, you will come to a place where your love for Them is steadfastly absolute, and you will always support Them through prayer in secret for others so that each one will fulfil the Father’s, Son’s and Holy Spirit’s plans for them and through them in giving them a hope and a future to the ultimate measure, so that God be only ever exalted as perfect in each and every one of His choices.  And you rejoice with Them as They are rewarded by the pleasure of success through the others and pray in agreement with the Holy Spirit that the disappointments of any and all failures be overridden by glorious victory!

And just as Jesus did, you put your hands to the plough to increase your Father’s estates as you go out to convince others to believe and repent and to honour the Father with a clear and simple demonstration of the power of God as you preach the word of God and testify… then work sincerely to help them mature as sons and daughters, knowing that you will be moving over to make room for them and to share even to the whole of your own portion of the inheritance given you with unstinting generosity by your Older Brother, Jesus, out of His very own… for, “All that belongs to the Father is Mine,” He said.  And so you work with the Holy Spirit to fulfil Jesus’ desirous word, which commands the fulfilment of, that “anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.  You can ask for anything in My Name and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father. This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.”

And whilst we do deeply cherish everything given us no matter how small or simple the gift, just because it came from our Father, or from our Brother, or from our Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, we in humility acknowledge we each have no gifting or ability of our own that we created and by which we could provide for ourselves the assurance of salvation or meet the needs of suffering mankind… even the needs of God; no knowledge that has not been released by Him or any power to create or supernaturally heal and do miracles by our own capability.  For through Him were made all things and nothing was made without Him.  Therefore, we need to come to the place of dying to not only what is of no worth – the root of sin and its rot living in us – but ALL THAT IS OF WORTH within us, all of which came and was given to us by Him, not holding on to it as “Mine, all mine.”  For each one has been given his/her portion of gifts and talents, either from birth or from a growing relationship with the Lord our God to affect His grand harmonious scheme for His enjoyment.  For even the talents, which They give us at the measure They choose that we work diligently to multiply, and the fruits that we work faithfully to manifest, would not be in us if the Lord, the Lord, and the Lord did not lovingly design our lives with such attention to detail that would daily bring us closer and closer to Them by Their unspoken, superabundant generosity and fervent, faithful, patient endurance.  For we have yet done nothing without Them first planning and working towards it Together due to Their excessive, humble, submissive obedience to Each Other to produce a bountiful harvest of fruits that delight and please with talents that are enjoyed and thrill, and therein is Their passion.  For it is THEY who are opulently excessive towards us, not we to Them…  But for us, it is IMPERATIVE…  For we could never be generously excessive towards our God whose Name is WONDERFUL, except that we will appear to the world as excessive in our striving towards our God as we willingly submit ourselves in total obedience to Him… sold out, having ‘lost our heads’ over Them and in appearance, like lambs to the slaughter…   But yes, it is that we have been inexcusably excessive and just downright inexcusable in our disgraceful, outrageous rebellion and dishonourable disobedience…   Incomprehensibly unbelievable if it were not only too true!

And if you have not already, you will come to a place where you will pour yourself out fully – the totality of you.  You will without selection include the most precious gift or gifts that you have within yourself, which you have to give to your God, knowing that you may no longer be unique as you have given and continue to give to others what individualised you to the Ones whom you serve to please and are obedient to the death to delight so that others too may have that very most preciousness, which was once uniquely yours.  But yet not expecting those whom you have poured into to ever add or reciprocate to you anything that is precious of themselves – and whilst this might matter, it will ultimately not matter one iota to you – for you are not giving to receive nor to gain for yourself merit but purely to bless T/those you love, fully aware you may become completely poured out…  So much so, for it may be the Great Omniscient Designer’s goodwill and artistic purpose that He never add to you any other thing… that you may remain a humble vessel of the plainest simplicity, seemingly the ugly duckling of the family to those who have eyes to see yet see not, just as Jesus came with nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him, whilst your brothers and sisters may shine so brilliantly bright as a sign and a wonder for others to so admire and be astounded by… and hopefully even be inspired by.  Yet you are content to know your Father does love and appreciate you even as you are in appearance dishevelled with hands and feet stained from working in your orchard and His vineyard, twigs nesting in your hair, sweat from your brow running rivulets down the dirt on your face, with work clothes soiled, worthy only to enter the house from the rear entrance, because, in truth, you have become in attitude more and more like THEM… given yourself up, having died to your desires and initial motivation for reward of any kind, all the while still yearning for the all that is held within God, yet not holding Them to account…  For this is real beauty in Their eyes, a pearl of great worth, a treasure in the field They have been searching for…  for beauty is measured by not how much you have received, but how much you have given… not how much has been poured into you, but how much you have poured out… not so much as how much you have retained but how much you have loosed… neither so much as how much you have held onto but how much you have shared… not how much you have been forgiven, but how much you have forgiven… all for Their good and the welfare of Their family…

For you know oh so well that They already have given you so much more than anything you ever deserved and never could ever earn of your own merit.  But if adding to others what is desirable and precious of yourself, perhaps even exclusive, may just bring them to that place wherein they attain an even greater depth of glorious beauty and fragrance in attributes of character in every manner delightfully pleasing to THE ONES you love – the King your Father; your King, your older Brother Jesus; and the Spirit of Kingship, the Holy Spirit – then this is your true gift of love.  And that love does cost and will cut deeper than you ever anticipated, but you have come to that place where all else has no value to you – nothing else and no one else has a hold on you outside of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit…  And whether your love appears foolish and even feels compulsively irrational, yet you have abandoned yourself to it because you are giving everything, even any expectation for return or place or position or any right, even your due right… even your eternity…  But you will vacillate wildly at times from what seems to you to be points of madness, even insanity, to lucid soundness firmly established in the solid ground of love, Love who is God, as you stubbornly cling by the recounting of your undeniable testimonies and His word till the embedding in the Rock firmly stabilises you once again… for if nothing else matters, to give is better than to receive.  For you make no claims on your Father, your older Brother and your Counsellor, not holding Them to account for any word or promise They may have given you, particularly when extenuating circumstances have arisen, most generally, you know, due to your own disobedient foolishness.  For whatever is beneficial to the commonwealth of your Father’s Family, the Family of God, IS your concern; whatever brings your Heavenly Father, your older Brother and the Spirit who gave rebirth to your spirit honour, glory, peace and rest is of utmost prime importance to you.  For if this is what it takes for Them to have Their plans, Their due rights and desires, Their hopes and dreams fulfilled through you even for others… whether friend or foe… then so it shall be.   And in so doing, you hold your own words to be of no account for what you have declared or written may limit or delay Their plans and schedule… for let every man be a liar but God alone be true…  Unless it is Their good pleasure to bring any word of yours to pass… for in the end as it was in the beginning and forever after will always be, all things are under Their Supreme Sovereignty.   But for this time, Jesus’ imminent arrival for enthronement in Heavenly glory here on Earth is THE SCHEDULE!

You have counted the cost – you know the cost – it is not what you would naturally choose – yet you are compelled to utter abandonment of yourself to that risk because your Father is a Risk Taker – Jesus is a Risk Taker – and the Holy Spirit is a Risk Taker – Why?   They did risk Their all for us, Their eternity… Their future… even Their very existence…  which is why Their plans were most carefully resolved and established in perfect, meticulous precision, leaving no possible occurrence unaccounted and unplanned for, everything in precise detail and every detail meticulously exacted before the W/word was sent out before the foundation of the world.  And that is why Jesus did and said nothing that He did not see done or heard said first by His Father in Heaven; and why the Holy Spirit has said nothing that He had not first heard said by the Father and Jesus.  And why we diligently hone ourselves to be of Their likeness untarnished…

But would you then go further again for your Kings with regards to even your enemies—even those who would seek to enslave you—even those who would seek to stone you—and even those who would seek to crucify you, so that they may be kept from going to the Lake of Sulphur?  Why and how?  Not because you are in love with them, but you agape them as Jesus agaped us when we were still His enemies, still His Father’s enemies – an incredulous, intensely sophisticated love that surges far beyond all laws yet is the Law of Love for all else to be measured by and to aspire to – because of the plunging deep pools your love and utter devotion are now swimming in like a graceful deep sea swan for your Father, for Jesus and for the understatedly beautiful Counsellor who has always been with you.  Your utmost devotion to honour Them so as to bring Them glory, quite simply stems from that place where you have come to a piercing understanding that all you have of any merit was given by Them and is a part of Them crying out for reflection back to Them Their Image and Their Likeness in you.  For if They had not called you, you would remain in your sin and die in your sin but by Their immeasurable bottomless wells of abounding grace…  Yet further still, They chose you… and then even more… They elected you… you!  Such cherish-able, glorious generosity!  Such astounding privilege!  How can we ever reciprocate Them but by earnestly striving to multiply what we have received of Theirs to return it back to Them and become of the same nature as They are… and in so doing, risking our ‘all’ for Them.  We know not how… for I know of my own strength and volition that I am unable as I face the horrible truth about myself – I am personally incapable no matter how I might wish and try…  But I do know these undeniable truths:  Nothing is impossible for those who believe, for with God nothing is impossible as we have been given the nature changing glory that the Father gave Jesus and were baptised with the Holy Spirit (and even by this level of fellowship, baptised in the Holy Spirit), the Spirit of Truth, who tirelessly counsels and trains us, making known to us what belongs to Jesus. And when we are weak, His power is made perfect for it works best in weakness! So, we give ourselves completely over to Him and submit to His strictest of discipline as the road ahead is particularly steep and arduous for the untrained and unprepared, and even still for the well trained and well equipped.  For as He is more than willing, herein is this marvellous opportunity unselfishly given us and we should absolutely afford Him this most deserved honour that He produce in us vessels worthy for the King!  But as our lungs will need constant adjustment to breathe the air, many will not suffer the effort to endure to the pinnacle, the height of heights of the mountain of God, that we may commune with Him forever in His holy temple.

Yet the good news is that those who prepare His body for His return will receive the same reward as the one who prepared His body for His burial.  For He will not come back to a body filled with yeast, riddled with disease, overweight, disjointed, old and unsightly.  Therefore, those who continue in the intricate pattern to enter the Holy of Holies by way of willing, imperative, humble, continuous repentance in obedience, allowing for constant adjustment by the Holy Spirit, will pour themselves out so that His body is purified, made ready to be conjoined with Jesus, the Head.

And as by now you have come to abandon all of which you thought and cherished was yours, whether from without or from within, and even of what may have been your rightful dues for the commonwealth of the Family of God, no longer should you think sacrificially, but rather, be consumed with an absolute holiness to the Three Members of God.  And as Jesus poured out His life even for His enemies in the most humble of ways ever imagined, enduring the shame of the cross, you also want to pour out your life in the lowering of yourselves beneath others, even to the enduring of such shame, so that all mankind can be returned to the Father.  For, did He not say that which is His plan and hope – “Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the Name of the Lord and serve Him shoulder to shoulder,” for “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved”?  And so even as you fervently prepare the church to be made ready and purified as the body of Jesus, you have it in your sight and prepare to stand at the very end of the procession, like one condemned to the arena, as the stopgap against entry into the Lake of Sulphur to ensure that no one else will refuse the Father’s gracious mercy and goodness to rather be thrown in, apart from the four names written, together with a very empty Hell. So as surely as it is written, every creature in Heaven and on Earth and under the Earth and in the Sea will sing, “Blessing and honour and glory and power belong to the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

This is the greatest love even again to that which has been shared – a love which knows no boundaries – a love which would pour itself out to the extent you would be willing to give up even your eternal life for your enemies… the Love that God is formed in you… and it is enough that you have it in your heart because “LOVE will find a way.”  This divine glorious love that is breathtaking in its exquisite ethereal beauty… in Their eyes the pearl of great worth, the treasure in the field They have been searching for… and have always yet with abated breath almost dared not hope for!  Certainly the L/love They died for to rise to life in one and ones of man… the L/love Jesus, the Son of Man, became the Firstfruit of… and most absolutely the L/love you will die for to become of if you would just dare that you may become of the stature of Jesus, the Christ, the one and only Son of God the Father… and dwell with They who are One forever and ever as O-one.

So now, consider carefully how you hear…

What do you think… would you sanctify yourself to fastidiously climb the full height of the design of the temple to enter this Most Holy Place, the Holy of Holies of the temple of God?  And you who would so dare take the next breath, after entering in, would you leave it all behind to then plunge into the unknown of its depths to be the finished work of the design of the Holy of Holies for Him?  For I kid you not, if nothing is impossible for those who believe, what of those who submit themselves unto the labour of it… for with God nothing, absolutely nothing, is impossible…
