The Blood of Jesus Christ

Download the pdf file

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father who is given all authority in Heaven and on Earth, and who is given the Name that is above all other names. His blood changed the course of history forever. Jesus knew what His destiny was from the beginning of creation. His blood was to be shed as the total redemption for man’s sin and He trusted His Father and the Holy Spirit to bring it to pass.

Is it any wonder that Jesus ultimately proved that He is indeed the Son of God and the Son of man? His blood was so powerful that when one of the soldiers pierced His side, blood and water flowed out[1] and the centurion and the other soldiers standing in front of Him fell to the ground in repentance, realising that He is the Son of God[2] and the Son of Man.

In the Old Testament, the angel of death was to pass over all of Egypt and kill every first born male child. Through Moses, God spoke and decreed that all the Israelites were to sacrifice a young lamb and put the blood on the lintel and doorposts of their dwellings. The angel of death would pass over them and no harm would come to them. They had to stay inside and eat the Passover meal.[3]

This was symbolic of our Lord. Jesus’ blood is so much more powerful than the blood of goats and bulls. For we indeed entered a much better covenant than that of the previous one.[4] But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the most holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, offered Himself without spot to god, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?[5]

Jesus is the Word who became the Son of God and the Son of Man when He came to Earth. The body of our Lord was so important and necessary that without a body there could be no resurrection, and therefore the Holy Spirit could not do what He had purposed if this was the case. Thank God that He had a plan that had been put into action from the beginning. The Tree of Life in the Garden that the man was not allowed to reach out his hand and take also of it’s fruit was protected by cherubim at the east of the Garden of Eden and a flaming sword that turned everyway, to guard the way to the Tree of Life.[6]. This was God’s plan of unconditional love to His whole creation. It was for the Father’s glory to send Jesus to Earth to show us who we really are and to reveal to us His plans and purpose for our lives that we would become His sons and daughters, His faithful disciples and His elect of the precious Holy Spirit. If only we take a careful look at what Jesus gave up so we could have eternal life and a relationship with our Father again.

It costs our Lord everything to do what He did. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He Humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death—even the death of the cross! Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name. That at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on Eearth, and of those under the Earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.[7] “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”[8] Do we really understand fully what Jesus did for us at the cross? He gave us His life in full and held nothing back in the process of death on that Roman cross. For He (the Lord Jesus) shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.[9]

We are reminded so that we understand Jesus and His mission for His Father, which was to bring back to the Father that which was lost, for salvation is the greatest miracle of all. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”[10] To understand that what Jesus had in His heart for His Father was to obey His Father and to bring glory back to Him in full measure. This was why Jesus came to Earth in the beginning, it was to fulfill His Father’s dream that He would have many disciples following Him, who are just like His only begotten Son, and that they would come to the complete understanding of the Oneness of the Son and the Father and the Holy Spirit, for They are One; the Lord, the Lord and the Lord. If we really love Jesus and His words, we will come to the place of total surrender to His dreams that He has for His Father and the fulfilling of the plans He has for the precious Holy Spirit. “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives live to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son.”[11]

Jesus is indeed coming back to this Earth as the King of all kings. We need to get ourselves prepared, to be ready for this incredible day. How do we do this? It requires us to be so focused and not be distracted with the things of the world, for Jesus is more important and must come first in everything we do. We are called to bear much fruit, for by this My Father is glorified. So you and I must choose the narrow road to walk on from now until Jesus returns. “I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in Him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them in the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. As the father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”[12]

Jesus has given His all to us; He has kept nothing for Himself, and we must therefore give of ourselves to Him and do the same as Jesus. He is our example for life. By continuing repentance, listening to Jesus, practising the words of Jesus, and listening to the counsel of the precious Holy Spirit, allowing Him to make whatever adjustments that are necessary to our lives, this will enable the increase of power that needs to be released and set on fire what needs to be spoken, so that the Spirit can truly have His way with our lives. Jesus said, “He who loses his life for My sake will find it.”[13] Therefore, we must give of ourselves and our hearts must line up with what the Spirit is saying.

As our brother Ed recently showed us the importance of having our cup full of Jesus, so at this time, let us keep this in mind that it is the Holy Spirit’s desire to fulfil His purpose by reminding us of all that Jesus said, and to give to us all that we need to bring Jesus back to this Earth, and to finish what needs to be completed. To complete this task, we will need to keep close to Jesus and constantly be listening to the Holy Spirit’s counsel. “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”[14]

We are called a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God.[15] Therefore, we must accept our calling to be His disciples and His faithful elect who are moving beyond to be His overcomers who hold on to the hard teachings of our Lord as we come to the understanding of them, and to know His voice and when to act on it so that we bring glory and honour to Them. This will indeed redeem the time that has been lost to bring our King back to Earth quickly.

Let us not forget the example of Mary when she poured the expensive perfume on Jesus’ head and feet, washing His feet with her tears and drying them with her hair. “She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.”[16] Mary had such a love and passion for Jesus that she held nothing back. Jesus said these words about her, “Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this Gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”[17]

May we risk what Mary did in her day to be so close to Jesus and to have the same love, compassion and endurance to likewise do our utmost for Him. Let us have the same attitude of love and honesty in our hearts to keep going, no matter what the cost may entail so that we can have our Lord back with us sooner. We must believe and know that Jesus is our hope of all glory, Christ in us, the fullness of Christ being manifested to bring glory back to Them, the Lord, the Lord and the Lord.

The precious blood of Christ is the life that lives in us through our faith in Jesus Christ. We must come to the place in our journey with the Lord where we are going to continue to allow the Holy Spirit to change us and use us as He sees fit for the Kingdom of God. Let us press on to the high calling that is in Christ Jesus, our lord. So let us continue to remember the Lord each day and by partaking in the Lord’s supper. “Take and eat; this is My body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”[18] “This cup is the New Covenant in My blood which is shed for you.”[19] As we do this, may we consider what the Holy Spirit wants from each of our lives, and remember the price that our Lord paid for us on the cross of Calvary.

Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”[20]

Therefore, let us be prepared for whatever the Lord has for us to do, and do it for the honour of the One who sends you. Amen to the Lord, the Lord and the Lord.
