Imagine, you have lived a good Christian life and during your life you have even done a few miracles in His Name, drove out some demons in His Name and even had things you prophesied in His Name come to pass, and as life slips out of your aged body and your spirit soars up to Heaven, there you see the Lord Jesus waiting to meet you.  In your excitement, you call out to Him, ‘”Lord, Lord!”  However, there is no answer.  So again you call out, “Lord, Lord, did I not prophesy in Your Name, and in Your Name drive out demons and perform many miracles?”  And to your shock and horror, you hear these dreadful words, “I never knew you.  Away from Me, you evildoer!” [Matthew 7.23]

What just went wrong?  What just happened?  Well, for one Jesus did clearly warn, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven…” [Matthew 7.21]  And if you look at all the parables of the Kingdom of Heaven, they speak of exclusion (the parable of the ten virgins) and rejection (the parable of the weeds and the parable of the net) and even desertion (the parable of the pearl).  Now compare that with the parables of the Kingdom of God.  There is no rejection, no exclusion and no setting aside for those who are in the kingdom unless they are lazy and wicked (the parable of the ten minas).

It was John the Baptist who preached the Kingdom of Heaven, and it was to the Jews whom Jesus preached the Kingdom of Heaven to after they rejected Him at Nazareth and when He first sent the twelve out before they were apostles… but it was the Kingdom of God that Jesus first preached and it was the Kingdom of God that He spoke of last.  The Kingdom of God was first and last on Jesus’ agenda.  It is the kingdom of the Alpha and the Omega, not the Kingdom of Heaven.

So then, consider which kingdom are you in?  The Kingdom of Heaven or the Kingdom of God?  If you are looking forward to eternal bliss in Heaven after living a ‘good’ Christian life of piety, charity and faith, even with miracles… good luck.

However, if you would change and humble yourself like a child and be born again from above as Jesus said, then come and see the Kingdom of God.  The kingdom of power, peace, joy and righteousness in the Holy Spirit, which is here now within you and among us.  A kingdom which you live to stay in, not die to enter.  A kingdom where miracles and driving out demons are the normal day to day events and not exceptional unusual events.   Then repent and truly listen to Jesus.

It is time to set the plumb line in place and to clearly let the people know the difference between the two kingdoms – the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God – just the way Jesus taught about them and how He taught them, as the Father showed Him.
