“For I gave them the words You gave Me and they accepted them.”[1]

These same words, which Jesus said, “Heaven and Earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away,”[2] are the words given directly from the Father to the disciples, and to all disciples.  Remember that in John 17:1-28, Jesus was praying for His disciples whom the Father had given Him and “also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one…”[3]  It is therefore clear that Jesus had in mind that all believers would become disciples just like the eleven disciples were.

Jesus is the Word who became flesh, and whose words have the power to outlast flesh because they will remain when Heaven and Earth pass away.  Therein lays the goodness of the Father’s command when He said, “Listen to Him!”[4]  Thus the Father passed us over from practising and living on words that would not endure the destruction of this Heaven and Earth to living on words that would outlast this present Heaven and Earth.  It is no wonder that Jesus said with such confidence, as early as Matthew 7, to His disciples, “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”[5]

If He can give us words by which to live on, to conduct our lives by and to practise with, that can endure the destruction of the Earth by God’s jealous anger, what else do we need to meet our daily needs?  You and I now need to flip our thinking around completely and see this in the Light of the Resurrection.  When He said these words, “I have overcome the world,”[6] He did not just mean that He has solved the problems of the world, but He also meant that even when there is no more world, His words and He Himself will endure and so will all who are abiding in Him, and in whom His words abide.  For those who have His word abiding in them, have come to that place where they have eaten of His word as one would eat bread that now is in the person, and that abiding of His word will provide for the power to endure, even with the passing of Heaven and Earth.

Jesus said, “If you remain [abide] in Me and My words remain [abide] in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.  This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.”[7]  The abiding of the enduring word means that you will not pass away either even when Heaven and Earth pass away, meaning that whatever you ask for will also not pass away.  You have come to the place where it is worthwhile for God to invest more in you, to give you whatever you wish for whatever you have will not pass away.  To God, it is not a wasted effort to give you what you wish, whereas, if the word does not remain in you, that what you wish will not endure either.  Yet all remain in Jesus in one sense or another, for He sustains all things by His powerful word [and upholds all things by the word of His power.][8]

The abiding of His word in you as you abide in Him, has brought you to the place where God can begin to trust you, so that whatever you will or wish, will be done and given to you, and that which you wish and will, will endure as His words and the Word Himself endures.  That is, a facet of the tasting of the goodness of His word.  Whatsoever we do, say and wish, whatever is given to us according to His word, will endure with the passing of Heaven and Earth, so that at the end of it all on Judgement Day for the living and the dead, you will have wishes that have endured and survived the test of fire – for as it is written by Paul:  By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it.  But each one should be careful how he builds.  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.  If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light.  It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work.  If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.  If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.[9]

If that which you wish or will for is based on the words of Jesus, it will survive the test of fire.  If that which we say and do is not an expression of His word, but merely fanciful rules made up by our deluded hearts and minds, it will not endure.

If we practise doing what He has done because He said we could,[10] that practice and the reward of that practice will endure the test of fire.  If we practise what someone else has done, it will not endure so that no record of practice is left to testify that we practised anything.  A servant who has not practised anything is a lazy servant, so come Judgement Day, without anything to show for your practice, you will be condemned as a lazy servant as well as wicked, because it was that you forsook the practice of His word and practised someone else’s word you will be proven wicked, which is God-forsaking.

As such, the goodness of His word reveals itself with the simplicity of the pure power of God that it is a power that can preserve and endure even when Heaven and Earth pass away.  His word is neither old nor new, as Earth and Heaven can be old or new, but is eternal and everlasting.

Whoever has lived on His word as their food, put the word into practice as part of their food for their life, will have their practice preserved for judgement, and regardless of whether one has been successful or failed, the record shows that you have put the talent and minas to work.  You have put His word to work.  As such, you are neither lazy nor wicked.  Only the lazy, wicked servant is thrown out, not the practising, working servant regardless of success or failure.  As someone said, “It is the God of Heaven who gives success and not the god of success who gives us Heaven.”  It is inconceivable and it is impossible that God will allow the practice of the words of Jesus to fail, for He said, “I am watching to see that My word is fulfilled.”[11]  And indeed, He is still watching to see that His word is fulfilled, and for anyone who puts His word into practice, He is watching to fulfil that practice for success, not failure.

It should therefore be no surprise to you that even those who are believing for things that will not endure the test of fire will receive whatever they ask for in prayer, without a doubt.[12]  Why?  Because He said so, and He will give you whatever you ask for in prayer without doubt, because He is watching over His word to fulfil it.  But beware, His word is fulfilled, but what you have asked for may not endure the test of fire, and if that is the case, you have no proof of the practice of His word.

Take another example of those who are preaching and sowing His word that is the preaching of His gospel.  The pattern He has set is clear, for He Himself told us when He said to John the Baptist’s disciples, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard:  the blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the good news is preached to the poor.  Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of Me.”[13]  He displayed power, and then He sowed the word.  For He said, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptised will be save, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe:  In My Name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”[14]

The entirety of the practice of His words, even when preaching, must be accompanied by signs following to confirm for believers, and is preceded by signs for those who are doing what He has been doing.  As such, the preaching of the word without preceding or follow-up signs and wonders does not live up to the standard prescribed.  Indeed, practising the word, the gospel, without preceding or follow-up signs is not something He said would or should happen.  Therefore, when the fire comes there is no word to preserve such works and they will be found wanting.  Yes, some may say they have preached, but where is the proof of that if the fire would destroy all that was not up to full measure?

Thus the careful listening to His word and the diligent practice of His word to perfect the practice in its most exacting form is the best way to ensure that your work can withstand the test of fire.

Since Jesus’ words are given to Him by the Father, His words reveal the Father as He said, “I have made You known to them…”[15]  Now, here is the ultimate goodness of the word, not for its eternal endurance, nor of its power, but for its ability to reveal the Father.  You and I have not seen Jesus, so we cannot say we know the Father because we have seen Jesus, even though Jesus said to Phillip, “Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.  How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”[16]  After all, Phillip had seen Him close up clearly for three years, whilst we at best get glimpses of Him in fleeting visions and dreams.  But, the word, His words, reveals the Father, for they come from the Father.  Indeed, that is why His words could never pass away.  Though Heaven and Earth may reveal God, the Creator, in all His brilliance and greatness, Heaven and Earth were contaminable and are contaminable by sin, and have been contaminated, but Jesus’ words cannot and can never be contaminated.  Thus it is the revelation of the Father through the words He gave Jesus that will endure beyond the fire of God’s jealous anger.  Indeed, hellfire has nothing to compare with God’s jealous fire.

God’s revelation of Himself through the Law will be destroyed with the passing of this Heaven and Earth, for there will be no more sin and as such, no law will be needed, but God’s revelation of Himself through Jesus Christ is eternal.  Now you can see more clearly why Jesus said not everyone who calls Him, “Lord, Lord,” can enter even the Kingdom of Heaven, even though they use His Name to prophesy, drive out demons and do miracles.[17]  They may have used His Name, but they never practised His word as it was prescribed by Him.  For Jesus said, “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?  I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and puts them into practice.” [18]

Prophecy is not an end to itself.  A prophet who comes in His Name, saying Jesus is the Christ, yet does not preach the goodness of the Kingdom, is one who is merely using his office as a prophet to profit himself and build his own kingdom.  Likewise, for anyone doing miracles and driving out demons, these are very handy little gifts to have to exalt oneself, all in His Name.  Miracles, prophecy and driving out demons in His Name do not reveal the Father, but only the words given by Jesus reveal the Father to this present generation, for no miracle worker, no prophet or exorcist is the exact representation of His Being… only Jesus is.

If you see Jesus doing a miracle, if you see Jesus prophesy, if you see Jesus drive out demons, you have then seen the Father.  But if you see anyone else, in the Name of Jesus drive out demons, prophesy or perform miracles, you will not see the Father, but you will only see a person using the Name of Jesus to do something.  The failure to preach His word in the prescribed way, means that those who heard the prophecy, beheld the miracle and saw the demon driven out, did not come to know the Father, which is the very work that Jesus said He had accomplished.  “I have made You know to them…”  Thus, Jesus can say to all who use His Name but do not listen to Him enough to know that it is the practice of His word in His Name that reveals the Father, “I never knew you.  Away from Me, you evildoers!”[19]  Those prophecies, miracles and those works will not endure the testing of fire.

If the words reveal the Father, then we see in the Light of the Resurrection, the Father is the Father of Resurrection, and that Resurrection has always been a part of Him even before creation began, for the Word was in Him from the beginning.[20]  This then is the same Word who has been in the Father, even before Earth was created, so in truth, New Earth and New Heaven already existed as soon as Heaven and Earth fell to sin, for He is the Resurrection.  Sin then released the Resurrection that was always in the Life, who is God.  No wonder it has always been perplexing that it was as if God, who created the devil knowing that he would sin, in a way indirectly condoned sin, yet exacted such a heavy penalty upon His own Son.  For unless there is death, there can be no resurrection, and since the wages of sin is death,[21] sin came through Satan and then through Adam, first in Heaven and then on Earth, so that the Resurrection that has always been in the Father could be released and manifested.

God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, through creation, manifested the Resurrection who is in Them, through Jesus Christ the Son.  Thus when Jesus hands the Kingdom back to the Father, it is not a restored Kingdom, but the resurrected Kingdom, and a Kingdom whose power is also resurrected.  So, the power of the Age to Come is Resurrected Power, not resurrection power… no… Resurrected Power… power that is unlike anything that has ever been seen or heard before, and power that flows only from the Resurrected One, or ones.  The Powers of the Age to Come are powers of this age resurrected.  Who can stand before them and who can be entrusted with them?

Only they who abide in Him and His word abides in them, who are beheaded for the sake of their testimony for Jesus and the word of God,[22] are the trusted ones to whom Resurrected Power is given.

As the enemy makes counterfeits of all the powers of this age… “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible,”[23] he cannot and will never be able to counterfeit Resurrected Power, for he himself has no part in the Resurrection, nor do any of his apostles or prophets and neither does the False Prophet.  For the Powers of the Age to Come, which are contained in the words of Jesus already, for His words endure to the next age, are not released in full resurrected form except through those who are eligible for the First Resurrection, either by death or in our case, by stubborn life.  The False Prophet, since he has no wish to be beheaded for the sake of the Word of God, no matter how convincing his testimony may sound, is never eligible for resurrection, which is why he and the Beast are thrown into the Lake of Burning Sulphur alive.

The church at full power now to be revealed, is not the church with the powers of the early church restored to heal the sick and drive out demons, but the church with Resurrected Power… power to cause fire to come out of their mouths, power to change water to blood, power to strike with plagues according to its will and power to shut up the sky whilst they prophesy,[24] and the prophecy of the church with full resurrected power is these simple words, “Jesus is arriving.”
