“You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me.”

The absence of Jesus from their midst when He had ascended into Heaven is not mentioned by the eleven.  Indeed, when one reads the book of Acts and the Epistles, it is rarely lamented that Jesus was no longer physically with them.  It is as if they were quite satisfied that He had finished His work and now is sitting at the right hand of the Father… having a rest, savouring His finished work.  There was the work of the building of the church to be done as it were, whilst the great programmes of evangelism and the setting up of the churches with doctrines and rules of conduct while trying to cope with the persecutions is the main focus of the Epistles.

The continuing deeds – the preaching, the teaching, the perseverance under persecution – if one takes a step back and look at the volume of instructions in the Epistles and the Acts of the apostles, are to build up the churches and congregations… but for what?  So that there would be the church of Jesus Christ on Earth reigning in His place dispensing what it considers to be the right and wrong on behalf of Jesus?  A religion designed to harvest souls for Heaven whilst perpetuating itself on Earth so that Jesus could remain in Heaven?

If that was the plan, the original plan of God, to have the church raised up so she could reign on Earth in Jesus’ place, Jesus would not have told the twelve, When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another.  I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”  Even without miraculous power to teleport from one city to another, it would not take 2000 years for the Gospel to go through all the cities of Israel before Jesus would have been able to come back as the Son of Man.  No, there was an original plan that called for the sooner return of Jesus Christ if only they had listened.

Just as there was a plan for the twelve to go straight from the feeding of the 5000 to Bethsaida (Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd.) so that the blind man in Bethsaida could be healed that day by them, or on the next day.  But because of their disobedience and unrepentance, they ended up in Gennesaret, which is even further from Bethsaida than Capernaum, thus the blind man in Bethsaida was not healed till Mark 8.22… which was much later, after the feeding of the 4000.  The blind man of Bethsaida was delayed from seeing Jesus until much later, many days if not weeks later (from Mark 6.45 to Mark 8.22), thanks to the disciples’ failure to listen, obey and repent.

So likewise, our continuation of not listening, not obeying and not repenting has delayed all the blind (physically and spiritually blind) of this world from seeing Jesus.  You see, Jesus did not tell the twelve what awaited them in Bethsaida in Mark 6.45, but when they finally got to Bethsaida, they might have realised that the blind man of Bethsaida would have been there as early as Mark 6.45.  You might say all was not lost, for the blind man did eventually see, but that is because you are not the blind man and have no idea the torment those extra days meant to him.

Likewise, whilst we are busy building the church according to our judgments as to how it should look, run, sound and do for God and for Jesus while not holding onto the words of Jesus, the world has been left blind.  Blind to whom Jesus really is and what He is really like.  For the best part of 2000 years, the pagan world saw a religion that had a curious mix of meek, mild and gentle adherents who walked under the same banner as murderous, thieving, aggressive monsters who killed everyone and everything in their way in order to steal gold and earn a place in Heaven.  To any person who can look honestly at what has been done in Jesus’ Name by those who claim to be His disciples and believers, you are looking at a very schizophrenic organisation.  Little wonder ‘pagans’ have such trouble accepting the Jesus Christ preached by His church.

You should wonder how the blind man of Bethsaida would have felt had he been told that because of the twelve’s disobedience, he was left blind for much longer than he needed to be.  Perhaps that is why Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t go into the village,” instead of saying to him, “Follow Me.”  That blind man might have had trouble respecting the twelve’s ‘apostolic’ authority had he known the full truth.

Elect, there is much to learn from the blind man of Bethsaida, he who had to suffer his infirmity longer than needed because of the twelve’s disobedience and unrepentance.

Understand then the condition of the world after 2000 years of waiting to see Jesus.  Understand its cynicism, its anger, its lack of respect and disinterest when it comes to the things of Jesus, even as any ministry tries to preach the Gospel and do good works to appease the populace.  We need to understand the poor may be grateful for the help because they have no choice, but you can be certain that if they were not poor, they would never give our ministries that help them the time of the day.  And if they understood that the horrors of the last 2000 years were due to the loss of miraculous power by the church of Jesus Christ, and indeed many of its horrors are actually caused by the same ‘church’, you might just understand their outright hostility.

Why?  All because we never understood what Jesus meant when He said, “You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me  …and you can help them any time you want.”  You see, we can help the poor without Jesus in our midst now or we can help the poor after we get Jesus back in our midst.  That is what is meant by the Lord’s words, “…you can help them any time you want.”

The fact is this:  Until Jesus arrives, Satan is not bound up and cast down into the abyss, and as long as he roams the Earth, he will find plenty of men and women who will do his work to create more poor people, more sick people, more orphans and more widows.  Until Jesus arrives, the cycle of prosperity and disaster, peace and war, will never cease because of the capability of Satan to deceive, which he will demonstrate at the end of the millennium as he is released to go forth to deceive the citizens of Gog and Magog, so that the final rebellion would take place and the work of a 1000 years is destroyed.  A rebellion permitted so that once and for all Satan is proved for what he is and men are proved for what they are – gullible rebels at heart, ever ready to listen to anyone but the Lord.  That final rebellion permitted at the end of the millennium is so that those who come back to reign with the Lord complete their preparations for Judgment Day.  The sight of your millennial work being trod underfoot by the ingratiates you have shepherded will galvanise your ability to have compassion on those you choose to have compassion and mercy on those you choose to have mercy to prepare you for life on New Earth in New Jerusalem as the heirs of God forever.

However, before we can get to the end of the millennium, we have to start the millennium and that does not happen until Jesus arrives.  So before more power is released and you are able to do things men have not even conceived in their minds, much less seen and heard, understand this:  You are not being prepared for a ministry of good works, soul winning or Gospel preaching so that Heaven may be populated.  The work the Holy Spirit has set you apart for this time is not to prevent the church from drifting back to partial observance of the law as He did for Barnabas and Saul.  Neither is it to cleanse the church completely of all the yeasts and detestable practices and teachings, even though that will happen.  It will happen just as miracles happened as Jesus was walking to Jerusalem.  The cleansing of the church is not the objective but a byproduct of the real objective, which is to have Jesus in our midst in the flesh again.

That is the end game, elect, and for that to happen, each and everyone of the elect of the Holy Spirit must hold onto this thought:  We do not have Jesus, the poor we have, but Jesus we do not.  And it will require each of us to have hearts that ache missing Him more than people who love each other ache when they are apart.  It will take you to have a heart that can answer, “Yes, Lord, You know I agape You more than these,” but yet have a resolute mind that also knows and understands for all the love you have for Jesus, for all the longing you have for Jesus, for all the desire you have to see and hold Him, you cannot go with Him, but remain so that He can return to you.

Luke recorded for us:  After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.  They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.  “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky?  This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into Heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into Heaven.”  Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.

How many amongst those who saw Him rise took the words of those two angels to heart and rejoiced for they said that He is coming back?  He is coming back!  You see them, you recognise them, those same two who were at the tomb that morning, who told you to get the disciples to Galilee because Christ is risen!  They did not lie then, they are not lying now.  He is coming back!  What did they say?  “This same Jesus… will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into Heaven.”  Walking back to Jerusalem, your eyes meet the eyes of the mother.  He is coming back and not as a spirit, but what did they say?  “…in the same way…” in the flesh so that once more you can hold Him as you held Him that morning when He suddenly appeared and said your name, “Mary.”  He is coming back and that is all that matters.

Luke did not record for us what Magdalene was thinking in her heart, because anyone who hungers and thirsts for the actual return of Jesus Christ in the flesh is thinking and feeling exactly as she did, for that is what the Holy Spirit will make known to you… that which no eyes have seen, no ears have heard, no mind conceived… the longing of Magdalene for Jesus’ return in the flesh.  For that is what is on the heart and mind of the Spirit – the return of Jesus Christ in the flesh.

He was watching, watching the Father and the Son, watching the whole plan go astray, just like it did with Adam and with Israel, watching and waiting for the times to be fulfilled when the Lord’s words would be fulfilled.  If you thought the failure of the eleven to go to join Them on resurrection morning was a suspense to Them… think again.  Just as the Father foreknew Adam would sin, so Christ was slain before the foundation of the world, so They foreknew no one would come on resurrection morning.  Just as God told Moses of Israel’s rebellion before it happened, so likewise, They foreknew it would be two millenniums before the Holy Spirit could rise up to testify… and what a testimony it will be as the Earth is consumed by the fire of His jealous anger.

Jealous because He loves the Father and the Son and seeks only to glorify Them.  Anger because He has sat and watched for 2000 years as men used the Name of Jesus and His church for their own enrichment, even eternal enrichment (deluded as they are), whilst He has been patiently, lovingly, preserving the true seeds, the words of Jesus Christ, so that in the right time it would yield forth the 30, 60, 100 fold harvests in the Kingdoms of Heaven and of God.  Ensuring that no matter how much the Nicolaitans, Balaamites and Jezebelians would bring in their accursed seeds, their words, which men who seek to draw disciples after themselves would receive and treasure in their hearts instead of the words of Jesus, the true words of Jesus would be preserved to be published, to be read, to be heard, to be believed and to be practised, so that once more He, the Spirit, can testify with those who have received the true seed into their hearts with power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and declared Him the Son of God will now be released so that this time it will be Jesus returning alive to be declared the Son of Man.  If the power that raised Him from the dead was holy, then how much more the power that will bring Him back be glorious?

What is written is then merely the foundation to place upon what is yet to be built.  What has been done is merely the prelude of what is yet to be done.  The restoration of the miracles of old is merely the sign of the resurrection of the miracles that no eyes have seen, no ears have heard, no minds conceived, but the Holy Spirit will make known to those whose hearts and minds are set on this one singular sentence – “You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me” – propelling their entire being to find the way to bring Him back.

There is an apostolic ministry that never was because Peter convinced the other ten to choose Judas Iscariot’s replacement before the Holy Spirit arrived.  An apostolic ministry that would have been confirmed on the Mount of Transfiguration had they gone that morning.  An apostolic ministry that is long dead, 2000 years, two days for the Lord.  Now on the third day, it is time to resurrect it.  Resurrect it the Holy Spirit will… and it will not be what it was, but more glorious and indestructible, and those whose hearts can love Jesus as Magdalene loved Jesus will be the witnesses of this resurrection.

If Magdalene had any jealousy in her heart for Jesus, it will be resurrected in those whom the Holy Spirit elected.  If Magdalene had any anger in her heart as she watched and listened to what was being done to delay her Lord’s return, it will be resurrected in the elect of the Holy Spirit.  This jealous anger will safeguard you, the elect, from being distracted by the need to feed the poor, the widows and the orphans, which will be multiplied upon the Earth as the days of distress continue to unfold when even the mountains melt and the islands flee because of the fire of the jealous anger of the Lord.

True compassion and mercy for the poor, the widows, the orphans and the weak will not be shown in the good works of charity to feed or clothe them, for the need of that will never cease.  True compassion and mercy is an unflinching resolute focus to bring Jesus back in the flesh even if it means all that is written and yet to be fulfilled is unleashed in its full horrors.  True mercy and compassion is to shut up the skies so it does not rain, change waters to blood, strike the cities with plagues until they all collapse, and unleash the earthquakes and the hailstones that have been released for this time.  True mercy and compassion for Jesus Christ, for He alone deserves the agape love that brings mercy and compassion, the mercy and compassion of the Father.

So, elect, open your eyes and look at the poor and know you will always have the poor and you can do something for them anytime, but Jesus you do not have with you, and now, now is the time to do something for Jesus.  Now is the time to open your bottle of nard and anoint Him.  The poor will still be there tomorrow, but now He is here reclining at the table.  Now is the time, anoint Him and prepare Him for His destiny.

As it was with Magdalene, so it is with us, the poor will still be there tomorrow, but now, now is the time to give your best, your treasure, your ‘nard’, and prepare the body, prepare Him, for the fulfilment of His destiny – the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Lord of all the Earth.
