Proclaiming Peace

Download the pdf file

“I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken.  He will proclaim peace to the nations.  His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the Earth.”[1]

“All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”[2]

As surely as Jesus Christ is the peace offering to the world from God the Father of all creation, what did Jesus mean when He said, “go and make disciples of all nations”?  Was He really saying to go out to the world and sell to the world the ideas Jesus offered and bring peace on earth, or do you think what He was really saying is to go and offer terms of peace to all the nations, and enforce the terms of peace from God the Father?  Jesus had already proclaimed peace to the nations about 2000 years ago and although His disciples have gone out, not one country has been made into a disciple of Jesus, let alone one church being trusted with the full power to become peace makers.  So many nations have rejected His words, for the words and ways of men and even the church, which Jesus died for, have abandoned and deserted Him in His way, His truth and His life.

Do you think God’s Name is feared among the nations?  “For I am a great King,” says the LORD Almighty, “and My Name is to be feared among the nations.”[3]  If there is any other condition that we are to fulfil before Jesus returns, this is one of them.  We are to fill the world with the fear of God.  They are not to think of Jesus returning as a mere fantasy, but with fear and dread, and it should strike terror into the hearts of men.  People in many nations do believe that Jesus does exist, but do they fear Him?  Which people in government truly fear the LORD?  Which people in multinational companies fear God?  Does the UN fear God or simply acknowledge a god so that they can be accepted?  I don’t see any of them thanking or giving praise to the one true God on television.  So how do we make disciples of all nations, as commanded by Jesus?

Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands.  Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in days long ago.  “As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them My wonders.”  Nations will see and be ashamed, deprived of all power.  They will lay their hands on their mouths and their ears will become deaf.  They will lick dust like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground.  They will come trembling out of their dens; they will turn in fear to the LORD our God and will be afraid of you.[4]

“I have cut off nations; their strong holds are demolished.  I have left their streets deserted, with no one passing through.  Their cities are destroyed; no one will be left – no one at all.  I said to the city, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction!’  Then her dwelling would not be cut off, nor all My punishments come upon her.  But they were still eager to act corruptly in all that they did.  Therefore wait for Me,” declares the LORD, “for the day I will stand up to testify [will rise up to plunder].  I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out My wrath on them – all My fierce anger.  The whole world will be consumed by the fire of My jealous anger.  Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the Name of the LORD and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.”[5]

Fear of the LORD is the key to making disciples of all nations, with a full demonstration of God’s power.  There are three general steps in the process of peace with God:

1.     First; it is by God’s power that the nations hear in the same way as the nations around Egypt heard of God’s power that delivered the Israelites out of Egypt.  You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge My power![6]

2.     Second; we offer the terms of peace with God, which are given through Jesus Christ who is the peace offering of God, and then we wait for the terms of peace to be accepted or rejected.  During this time, we teach and explain the terms of peace and heal people of their sicknesses.

3.     Third; if persecuted, we flee the town and also tell all the others who have accepted the peace offering of God to flee as well, for God’s terror will fall on that town when we have left. Remember Lot, the nephew of Abraham?  God would not destroy the city while one righteous person was left in the city.  Remember the 11 disciples of Jesus who were supposed to flee when persecution came?  God would not destroy Jerusalem while they were still in the city.  Strangely enough, all the other believers fled.  This delayed God in His wrath by about 70 years.  Can we think that this is an acceptable delay?  For the disciples had forgotten that Jesus said, “When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another.”[7]  Otherwise stay there until you leave that town as in Mark 6:10.

It will occur again like in Acts 5:12-17:  The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people.  And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade.  No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.  Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.  As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.  Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.  Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.

The threat of persecution will initiate itself from the established church, for when the first church started, it was the Jews of the temple who thought they had everything under control – meaning they had peace with the Romans and they were making money in their current situation and they were in control of what was happening.  So when the power manifested through the first Christians, they found themselves in a position that they could loose control of and look wrong in what they had preached about God in the eyes of the people.  So they started to persecute the first church, trying to stop what God was doing.  The fact was that they could not stop what God was doing and the first church grew, but the Jews continued their persecution.  Yet, they did not repent or even stop to listen to see if what they were saying was true.  Their hearts were hard and they weren’t going to have anyone ruin their program.

Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.  Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia.  These men began to argue with Stephen, but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.  Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.”  So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law.  They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin. They produced false witnesses, who testified, “This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.  For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.”[8]  After this, Stephen was stoned to death for his witness about Jesus.  On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.[9]

“You snakes!  You brood of vipers!  How will you escape being condemned to hell?  Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers.  Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.  And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.  I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.”[10]

And it did come upon that generation seventy years later, a delay to God’s plan again.  Every delay in the plans of God prolongs the suffering on the Earth.  It is man’s way to believe in a ‘principle’ and with pride, they become stubborn about it, so they will not flee when persecution comes – standing for their ‘rights’ that they hold on to.  They want to stand up for their rights to prove a God-less point of their own determination, by their own strength, yet Jesus said flee. You are to flee when blood is shed, for if you don’t flee, you will have your own blood shed by the enemies of Jesus even to the point where there is no righteous left in that city, so God can rain down terror on that city, or you will eventually make peace with the world as the first church tried to do with the Jews when persecution came.  Do you think God wants to rain down terror on a city with His own children in it?  What sort of Father would this make Him look like?  Remember Lot?  Even Lot was not convinced to flee and God would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah while he was still in it.  It was only when he was evicted by angels of God that it was destroyed.  We are to prepare and plan to flee, as we are to look for the signs that will show us when to flee.

It is the distress of God that is increased every time His enemies are not subdued.  It delays the peace that God desires to have with His creation.  It prolongs God’s own personal distress due to sin increasing on the earth.  It is time to stop God’s distress and give Him relief from it.  There is a plan for God’s peace as well as peace for mankind.

A very large portion of the world believes there is a true God Who exists, and for many people when we proclaim the peace offering of Jesus with a demonstration of power, many will believe and repent and they will be told to “Listen to Jesus” as this is the start of the terms of peace with God.  The established church will start to fight against the peace being offered through the preaching of the peace offering, for even the church will be called to repentance.  Those with the traits of the Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, Balaamites, Jezebelians and Nicolaitans in the church will be given a chance to repent.  And those in the church who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of God, will not believe or repent or practise even with seeing a demonstration of power!  Then, they will rebel hanging onto their own doctrines and/or believe that their own ways are right.  Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to Heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.”[11]

The rest of the world will be caught up with the False Prophet and the anti-Christ, who will mislead the world with their own version of peace.  Other religions that acknowledge God, or a god or many gods in the name of peace on the earth, will join as one together with the worldly church to start and cause a full war against the saints of God.  He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them.[12]

So, what is it that God will do?  When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony that they had maintained.  They called out in a loud voice, “How long, sovereign LORD, holy and true, until You judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”[13]  The multitude in Revelation 19:1-2 said, “Hallelujah!  Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are His judgements.  He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.  He has avenged on her the blood of His servants.”  Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”  Before our eyes, make known among the nations that You avenge the outpoured blood of Your servants.[14]

It is the blood of His servants, the prophets, who faithfully served the Lord their God, who have been killed for the sake of the message and the gospel.  This is what causes God to act.  God said, “I anoint you king over the LORD’s people Israel.  You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the LORD’s servants shed by Jezebel.”[15]

So, now it is war!  God has for a long time been provoked to war with the blood of His servants the prophets and all His servants being spilt, and the sad truth is that He has been waiting for us to work with His plan of revenge for the spilt blood of our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the prophets before Jesus’ time.  But remember, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice,”[16] and “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord.  Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?”[17]

“You are My war club, My weapon for battle – with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms, with you I shatter horse and rider, with you I shatter chariot and driver, with you I shatter man and woman, with you I shatter old man and youth, with you I shatter young man and maiden, with you I shatter shepherd and flock, with you I shatter farmer and oxen, with you I shatter governors and officials.”[18]

Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them; beckon to them to enter the gates of the nobles.  I have commanded My holy ones; I have summoned My warriors to carry out My wrath— those who rejoice in My triumph.  Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of a great multitude!  Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together!  The LORD Almighty is mustering an army for war.  They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the LORD and the weapons of His wrath— to destroy the whole country.  Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.  Because of this, all hands will go limp; every man’s heart will melt.  Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labour. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.  See, the day of the LORD is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.  The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light.  The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.  I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.  I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.  Therefore I will make the Heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the day of His burning anger.  Like a hunted gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd, each will return to his own people, each will flee to his native land.  Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall by the sword.  Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.[19]

As we preach the gospel of peace and at the point people start to persecute the ‘listeners of Jesus’ by shedding blood of our fellow brothers and sisters, we are to flee.  God’s purpose is for us to draw His enemies out into the valley of Jehoshaphat[20] or the valley of decision[21] or as footnoted ‘the LORD Judges’. Whose decision?  The LORD’s decision.  The LORD will decide.  The LORD will make judgement.  It is Mine to avenge; I will repay.”[22]

Proclaim this among the nations:  Prepare for war!  Rouse the warriors!  Let all fighting men draw near and attack.  Beat your ploughshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears.  Let the weakling say “I am strong!”  Come quickly, all you nations from every side, and assemble there.  Bring down your warriors, O LORD!  “Let the nations be roused; let them advance on the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations on every side.  Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.  Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow – so great is their wickedness!”  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!  For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.  The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine.  The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the Earth and sky will tremble.  But the LORD will be a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.[23]

LORD, I have heard of Your fame; I stand in awe of Your deeds, O LORD.  Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.[24]

Proclaim this among the nations:  Prepare for war!  Or repent and make peace with God through Jesus Christ who is the peace offering of God!  And God will have peace, for God is Peace.

Peace be with you.
