Prelude – What You Are…

Election by the Holy Spirit does not come by our desire or wish or will, but by the choice and will of the Holy Spirit, for as He said to the church in Antioch, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  Neither Paul nor Barnabas worked for it or desired it… and they were not told by Jesus either, but rather, from the disciples of Jesus the Holy Spirit makes His election.

Unlike Caleb and Joshua who by their faith, choice and spirit chose to believe God and not side with the rest of Israel… unlike Eleazar or Shammah who by their choice chose to take their stand when all of Israel retreated… an elect of the Holy Spirit cannot choose but is chosen.  It is only after he or she has been chosen that he or she can make a choice, like Caleb, Joshua, Eleazar and Shammah, to take a stand which is not supported by the rest of Israel.  It is your choice whether you go with the church or you stand apart from the church for the sake of the church.

Unfortunately, Barnabas and Saul did not stand apart from the church in Acts 15 and oppose James the Younger to his face then, so that later Paul could do nothing even when he did oppose Peter to his face in Galatians 2 in stopping James’ gangrene spreading through the body of Christ until we have its present state of decay, disrepair and paralysis.  Understand that those children of the first generation, as they followed Joshua into the promised land, were proving that God had always been right and that their forefathers were wrong!  Their conquest of Canaan without any loss, except at Ai, would put to death the words of their own fathers who said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”

Likewise, the generation before us has said there are many things we cannot do, and if we succeed in penetrating and taking hold of our promised land, we will be proving them to be false and God be true.  For many have said we cannot live and never die, but Jesus said, “…whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”  They have also said you have to be specially chosen and anointed by God to do the miracles of Jesus… but Jesus said, “…anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing.”  These two Scriptures of Jesus, John 11.26 and 14.12, are our two witnesses… that indeed with God nothing is impossible, and in our case… that with God the Holy Spirit nothing is impossible!

So who can teach us what it takes for anyone to live and never die?  Can any Christian teach us?  Can any church teach us?  Unfortunately, no, for there are no Christians alive who have outlived 200 years or more.  All since the martyr Stephen have died and continue to die.  So who is available to teach us how to live and never die?  Unfortunately, no one from the church of Jesus Christ who has died.  And who amongst the living can teach us?  For we know of no one who has lived beyond 120 years and retained their youth.

You see, to the church, Death is like the giants of Canaan and we are grasshoppers in our eyes, waiting for him to step on us.  However, there are two men, neither of whom belongs to the church, who did succeed to live and not die… Enoch, the ancestor of Abraham, and Elijah.  Indeed, Enoch is the forefather of all modern men, believers and non-believers, Jews and Gentiles.  For he is the father of Noah and Noah is the father of Ham, Shem and Japheth, from whom all men on Earth are now descended.

Thus elect, it is the secrets of Enoch and Elijah that can give us the first two steps on achieving John 11.26, to live and never die.  And if we fulfill John 11.26, then we have fulfilled John 14.12 at its greater level.  For to live and never die is the greater thing that Jesus said anyone who has faith in Him can do because He is at the right hand of the Father, for Jesus lived, died and lived again.  Because He lives, we can live and never die, if we firstly learn to be like Enoch and Elijah.

Enoch’s secret is that he walked with God 300 years… that is, after he became a father, he walked with God continuously.  A continuous daily walk with God… but you will hear many who say, “We do walk with God daily…” God the Father and Jesus.  The crucial mistake is no one has even taught us to walk with the Person of God who lives with us and in us… the Holy Spirit.  Indeed, how can you say you live with the Holy Spirit daily when many are taught not to have anything to do with His gifts (tongues, etc.), and still others call Him the Holy Ghost, the spirit of a dead person, when He is the Spirit of the Living God.  Indeed, such attitudes that have infiltrated the general population of the church do not permit a valid statement to be made about the average Christian living with the Holy Spirit daily.  Indeed, to say you are living with someone daily, walking with someone daily, you have to acknowledge that person, speak to and with that person, and the proof that you are living with that person daily is that you know him, not you know of him, but you know him, even his private habits.  So, as Enoch walked with God for 300 years… we must learn to walk with the Holy Spirit daily, and indeed, not just walk with Him, but live with Him… Him in us and we in Him until we show the evidence that we do know Him.  The proof of recognition of a person is sight, touch, smell and recognition of his voice… which with time leads to the ability to anticipate the thoughts, needs and desires of that person, as well as an intimate knowledge of his habits.

Thus, the proof of your election does not exist on a piece of paper or a self proclaimed title, but rather, it is displayed in your ability to recognise the Holy Spirit by His voice, His actions and your anticipation of His next move, to the point that you even imitate Him.  Nothing except a personal daily walk with the Spirit of Life can give anyone the power to testify to the truth of these words of Jesus, “…whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”

From Enoch came Elijah.  So from walking with the Holy Spirit, we will come to the secret of Elijah who ministered to Israel as if he was the only one left to do it.  Indeed, this was his confession to God, “I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”  Elisha, for all his greater portion and anointing, died… but Elijah lived and never died, for he was carried away alive by the fiery chariot of God as it is written:  …Elijah went up to Heaven in a whirlwind.  Even Moses and Paul died… even though the angel Michael argued with Satan over Moses’ body, saying, “The Lord rebuke you!” so that Moses could appear with Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration to speak to Jesus.  Moses died because as God said, “…you did not trust in Me enough to honor Me as holy in the sight of the Israelites…”  Unfortunately, Paul made the same mistake when in Acts 21.26 he took up the suggestion of James and the elders of Jerusalem and purified himself with those who made a vow, as if the blood of Jesus was insufficient for his purification.  Like Moses, Paul made one mistake in not honouring Jesus in the sight of the Jews as holy.

Thus, it is Enoch and Elijah who hold the secret… and by combining the two, the secret for an elect to fulfill John 11.26 then is this… to talk with the Holy Spirit daily with the attitude of absolute holiness and aloneness, as if you are the only one left… the only one left to walk with the Holy Spirit.  Not out of pride or exclusivity, but of holiness to the Holy Spirit.

For when you do that… the glory of the Lord that was given to His disciples to make them one as He is one with the Father will do what God hoped for but dared not speak of… the glory of the Lord that changes our heart, mind, spirit, soul, faith, flesh and motives so that we are one as Jesus is one with the Father… with continuous transformation of our heart, mind, spirit, soul, flesh, faith and motives until an elect of the Holy Spirit is one with the Holy Spirit, as Jesus is one with the Father.  For Jesus has said, “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?”  “I and the Father are one.”  “Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

It is obvious… the Son has the Father and the Father has the Son… but whom does the Spirit of Sonship have… who can be said that He is one with?  You say… Jesus and the Father, and you are correct, but can you not see the unseen desire of the Holy Spirit, the unspoken thought of the Holy Spirit, to have one and ones on Earth who are one with Him as Jesus is one with the Father in Heaven?

If you can, then your election is secure… and now see the desire and dream of the Holy Spirit, He who cannot be seen, no more than you can see the wind from where it comes and where it goes… that He does hope to have one and ones, whose spirit He is the Father of, to be one with Him as Jesus is one with the Father.

For, elect, that is the simple secret of fulfilling John 11.26 and 14.12 when you allow the glory of God to make you one with the Holy Spirit as Jesus is one with the Father.  For when you are one with the Holy Spirit, you are one with Him who lives and never died, who raised Jesus from the dead, who has the power to keep your mortal body alive, and who is Himself… the Spirit of Life.  Christ had to die so that we do not have to die… but we must choose to believe it, just as Joshua and Caleb chose to believe God and lived to see the promised land.  Likewise, you must choose… to believe and permit the glory of God to make you not only one with each other, but to make you one with the Holy Spirit as Jesus is one with the Father, until… the impossible happens.

So, before you set foot into the Holy of Holies, the promised Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit, hear and learn the good news of the secret of the longevity and eternal durability of God’s oneness, so that indeed, elect, you can make God’s dreams come true.

For he who lives in the Holy Spirit cannot help but live and never die, for the Holy Spirit has never died and can never die, for He is the Spirit of Life.

Amen.
