We know that God’s right to judge mankind is based on the truth that we were made in Their Image and Likeness, making God the Creator the only One who has the right to judge us.

We know that the object of God’s judgment is His sword, which is His word. When His sword falls and He sends His word, we are judged by how we respond and act and think, and out of the overflow of our hearts, our mouths will speak.

We know that the Law of Condemnation is this Jesus Law, “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.[1] The Law of Condemnation is not really about punishment as we understand it, but it is a final opportunity to repent and acknowledge Jesus as our Saviour. For condemnation comes when we refuse to accept God’s testimony about us, i.e. His truth, and we declare God is a liar.

We also know that God’s Family Law is “I and the Father are One.”[2] This Jesus Law is about oneness with the Father through the Son, for the Son is the only Way to the Father. And the Father is the only Way to the Son, as no one can come to Jesus unless the Father enables him.

And we know that the Law of the Spirit of Life is the Spirit and the Bride say to us, “Come!” just as the Spirit and the Bride first say to Jesus, “Come!” This is the law that tells us that the Spirit will contend with man for more than 120 years, and those who have a share in the Tree of Life and the holy city will be permitted to reach out our hands to eat from the Tree of Life and live forever.

This is a summary of the Law of Judgment. The Law of Judgment is God’s judgment on His household – under the Old Covenant this is the Jews, and under the New Covenant this is the church. As Peter wrote in 1 Peter 4.17 NLT, “For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?

The Law of Judgment is an “in-house” Law, but the Law of Vengeance is the law that will be enforced against God’s enemies First and foremost, the Law of Vengeance will be executed against Babylon the Great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the Earth.[3]

It is written: “But that day belongs to the Lord, the Lord Almighty – a day of vengeance on His foes[4]Sharpen the arrows, take up the shields! … His purpose is to destroy Babylon. The Lord will take vengeance, vengeance for His temple[5]Woe! Woe, O great city, where all the ships on the sea became rich through her wealth![6] Cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men[7]Therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see all your nakedness. I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring upon you the blood vengeance of My wrath and jealous anger[8]And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on Earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar[9]Come out of her My people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to Heaven, and God has remembered her crimes[10]Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Save yourselves! Don’t get trapped in her punishment! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance; He will repay her for what she deserves. Babylon was a gold cup in the Lord’s hand and she made the whole world drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have now gone mad. Babylon will suddenly fall and be broken[11]I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed Me[12]To Me belongs vengeance. It is Mine to avenge; I will repay. I will recompense them at the time when their foot shall slip[13]I will whet My glittering sword as the lightning, and My hand shall take hold of judgment; I will render vengeance on those who hate Me, and cause My enemies to surrender[14] Then My anger will cease and My wrath against them will subside, and I will be avenged. And when I have spent My wrath upon them, they will know that I the LORD have spoken in My zeal.”[15]

The Law of Judgment reveals God the Forgiver, for He desires for His people to turn and repent.

But in the Law of Vengeance, it is time to meet God the Avenger.[16]

What does God avenge? I tell you the truth, He only avenges one thing. He is the Avenger of blood, for this is the Law of Vengeance: “Only flesh with the life thereof, that is, the blood thereof, you shall not eat. And surely your lifeblood will I avenge, of every beast will I avenge it, and at the hand of man; and at the hand of a man and his brother will I avenge the life of man.[17]

Why is this? The Lord said, “Whoever sheds the blood of men, by men shall his blood be shed, for man was made in the Image of God.[18]

This is why it was Jesus’ blood that was poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins, so that we may have life and life to the full. To be the sin offering of mankind, Jesus laid down His life. And on that cross, He took upon Himself the full vengeance that is due to God for all the blood that was shed from the alpha to the omega as God demanded the accounting for the lifeblood of man. This is what it means when we say Jesus paid for our sins. He had to pay because an accounting of blood was demanded.

The life of every creature is in its blood, and this is why the blood of Abel cried out to God when Cain murdered him.

This is why when death travelled through Egypt the night before the Israelites left, it would pass over the house where the blood of the sacrificed lamb was marked on the doors, and no one in that house would die.

That is why Israel was commanded to refrain from eating and drinking blood until the time that the Holy One of Israel was revealed, and then they were commanded to eat His flesh and drink his blood, for His flesh is real food and His blood is real drink, and whoever eats and drinks this will remain in Him and He in them.

And this is why the blood of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained will be avenged.

For God avenges one thing only – lifeblood.
