Law of the Temple

Download the pdf file

Jesus said, I tell you that One greater than the temple is here. Something greater and more exalted and more majestic than the temple is here! But I say unto you, that in this place is One greater than the temple.”

And this is the basic law of the Temple: Absolute holiness! The entire top of the mountain where the Temple is built is holy. Yes, this is the basic law of the Temple.”

What then is absolute holiness for natural born sons and daughters whose spirits are born again of the Spirit by the will of God – by the Holy Spirit who goes out from the Father of Jesus and who is the Father of our spirits? What traits of the Holy Spirit did we inherit and what natural advantage do we have as we shed the mark of our foster parents of the flesh?

It is certainly not the code of conduct and speech derived from man-made traditions and customs of the church that have nothing to do with listening to Jesus and putting ALL His words into practice. If it is, the Book of Apprenticeship would not be opened up to us. And if it was, the cost of apprenticeship for the elect would be holiness as man defines holiness. But this is not the case.

Because so far, what have we been taught in the last 9 chapters? To summarise, we were taught to think well of God who is good, even with forethought because we know that God desires mercy, and our assurance of peace is based on knowing that all God’s plans are for good. Those who step into apprenticeship should expect no reward or prize because the reward itself is the privilege of coming to know and understand the thoughts and desires of God. And what is the desire of the Father of our spirits as it is written for us? The Spirit and the bride say to Jesus, COME!”

And when we do come into the territory of knowing and understanding the thoughts and desires of the Father of our spirits, we pay the price as we will offend the world and the church, which is like the world due to their notions of holiness, because our thinking will be different. So due to this difference, our speech and actions will be different. This difference will be seen as unholiness and they would want nothing to do with us. But more importantly, with this territory also comes the risk of loss of even your eternity because you will be exposed to committing the eternal sin, which is to speak against the Holy Spirit by your words and actions.

We were taught that our minds must be renewed as we who live in accordance with the Spirit have our minds set on what the Spirit desires. And our thinking must be different as we flip our mindset – from the mindset of believers and disciples and from servants who are adopted as sons to the mindset of natural born sons who are birthed to serve the Family. And why do we do this? To glorify Jesus and the Father – for when the Father is glorified, the Son is glorified for having such a Father. So then the question turns to what type of natural born son/daughter and brother/sister do you wish for yourself to be to They who loved you first?

Absolute holiness is NOT abstaining from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

Holiness is not by regulations that have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, false humility and harsh treatment of the body, for they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person’s evil thoughts and desires. They lack value as they do not lead you to think and speak well of God.

Absolute holiness is when your every thought, word and action is completely and singularly aimed at this: That God be glorified. But how would this flow from you if you didn’t think well of Them in the first place? And how would you know what to think, speak and do for Them if you didn’t know what God desires?

But we do know what the Father of our spirits desire. He desires that Jesus COMES! So in us, for we each are the temple of the Holy Spirit as He lives in us, the basic law of the temple in your heart and in your mind, making them one, is absolute holiness. That our every thought, word and action is completely and singularly aimed at glorifying Jesus because the Father of our spirits desires to glorify Jesus, which is why He takes from what is Jesus’ and declare it to us. And this is the trait and natural advantage we receive from the Holy Spirit, the Father of our spirits. This is why we receive power from the Holy Spirit – it is power to glorify Jesus! The gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit – wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discernment of spirits, speaking and interpretation of tongues, glory, grace and righteousness – are all to glorify Jesus, the Son, who through the Spirit of Holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead.

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4.7 (NIV): But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. NKJV is even more beautifully translated: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. I also love New Century Version: We have this treasure from God, but we are like clay jars that hold the treasure. This shows that the great power is from God, and not from us.

In this context, Paul was teaching his disciples about endurance and perseverance as they preach the Gospel. But what is this treasure we have in clay jars?

This treasure is the presence of the Holy Spirit Himself being with you and living in you. His presence – in you – is the treasure.

The all-surpassing power is His power to glorify Jesus – and it encompasses testifying for Jesus, preaching His Gospel, doing the same things He has been doing and even greater things so that His Father is revealed through us, bringing Him back, preparing the Kingdom for His reign, blessing His enemies and making preparations for His wedding.

And the law of the temple, absolute holiness, written in your heart and mind, and fully executed in your thought life, your words and your actions, then becomes the truth about you (for law is truth). For then the truth about you is simply this: That everything you think, say and do is about bringing Jesus glory, and by then you have become a spirit of truth, just like the Father of your spirit, and a man of truth, just like your Brother.

Paul wrote about perfecting holiness out of reverence for God, and that is what we are being educated and trained to do.

So then, what becomes of our code of conduct? Listen to Jesus who taught us about the four sons in the two parables and do not do what they do:

  1. Do not squander your share the family fortune according to your own whims and ideas, and after that, only think to be a servant.
  2. Do not hoard the other share of the family fortune by working begrudgingly and calling your Father a slave-driver.
  3. Do not do whatever you like against your Father’s wishes.
  4. Do not say whatever you like just to appease your Father.

In perfecting holiness as we execute the law of the temple, our code of conduct will become so unyieldingly singular and narrow – we will say and do anything that fulfils our Father’s desire for Jesus to COME! whatever the costs.

So singular is this thought, that we want Jesus to COME solely because this is our Father’s desire. It’s not about what we want or desire. It’s not even about us personally wanting to see Jesus, or to see Him crowned King in Jerusalem. It is just refined to be the one thing: What the Father of our spirits wants for Jesus. This is absolute holiness.
