From an unbeliever to a believer; from a believer to a disciple; from a disciple to a servant; from a servant to a friend; and from a friend to a son – the six steps of progression in God that all men, male and female, can proceed on by following Jesus who is the Way. And those who are sons are the brothers and sisters of Jesus who do God’s will and who hear God’s word and put it into practice.

However, just as Solomon alone was made king out of all of David’s sons, so not every son of God is worthy to be a king… and no one can be a king unless he is first a son of the king. Since no one took up the invitation, which was for His brothers, to go to Galilee on resurrection morning… Jesus left this world in the charge of not those who were His brothers… but at best were only his friends, servants, disciples, believers and in some cases, even unbelievers. And since there were none who qualified for brotherhood… no king has ever been raised up by the church in two millenniums. Certainly no king of the Kingdom of God, although various bishops of certain cities have raised up kings of the world to serve their political will and financial enrichment.

However, this world has never seen a king of the Kingdom of God, much less the King of kings yet. Then it should not surprise those of us who know the truth that this world has yet to even see the fabled Kingdom of God… the kingdom of power, joy, peace and righteousness… but has just only seen a kingdom of eating, drinking, talking, warring and whoring… of which those who have lost the trust of God to have miraculous power have never summoned up the courage needed to confess to the reality that because of our unbelief and disobedience to His command to listen to Jesus, we cannot be trusted with miraculous power. The abuse of worldly power in the hands of those who claim to be the anointed leaders of the church testifies to the truth of this finding.

It may have seemed great and wonderful to many that we can be called sons of God through Jesus Christ… for indeed John had written: Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God… and some of the children have even grown mature enough to be sons. But to be made a king? None yet… for kingship is not passed on just to any son… even the kings of the world know this principle… but the crown is passed to the one and ones who can rule in the manner of the Father.

Indeed, since Jesus is One with the Father and the exact representation of His glory, He is truly the worthy Heir… the King of the kingdom. However, John testified that He saw written on the thigh of Jesus this title: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Now some may say that means Jesus is King over the kings of the Earth… forgetting that no king of kings will allow another to be a king under him unless there is a pledge and proof of loyalty. In the case of the kings of the world, this means having a family member held in their palace as a ransom. So the title of Jesus, the King of kings, does not mean that He is King over the kings of the world who are not loyal to Him… but rather, over kings of the Kingdom of God who are His brothers and not only His brothers, but are almost as loyal to the Father as He is. I say almost for no one can surpass Jesus in loyalty to God the Father… no one. And no spirit can surpass the Holy Spirit in loyalty to the Father and the Son.

You see, God does not have sons who come from men only, for He has sons who are not men but are spirits… which is why in the Old Testament, the term ‘sons of God’ is used when angels are spoken of in Hebrew. They were the sons of God before Adam was created… but if you read Genesis 6.2, you will see that even those sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose… producing an accursed race called Nephilims who were on the Earth in those days – and also afterward – when the sons of God (angels) went to the daughters of men and had children by them.

You see, even sons of God are capable of going against the will of God and rebelling against God, for indeed, in the great rebellion, a third of the angels sided with Satan and were driven out of Heaven down to Earth.

What is the difference between a son and the son who can be a king? Much; for the sons of the kingdom may enjoy the privileges of the kingdom and within the kingdom have a certain degree of power, privilege and position… but in a foreign kingdom they have none unless the foreign kingdom seeks to respect their birthright. But the son who is a king not only enjoys the privileges within the kingdom, but when he goes to a foreign kingdom, he must be asked for a declaration of his intentions… whether he comes in peace or to make war. Certainly, a king who marches his army into another kingdom with all his servants armed with weapons is a king who has come for war and not for peace.

Remember Jesus said, “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” He came as the Son of God without armour and without His army of angels, except for the few who ministered to Him, but with a message of peace – Repent because the Kingdom of God is near. When asked by Pilate, Jesus replied, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now My kingdom is from another place.”

Now read and hear again what Jesus replied to Pilate’s question, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus in saying, “My kingdom is not of this world,” was in effect saying at that moment, “No, I am not the King of the Jews,” because if He was, His servants, that is, those who were Jewish, would have prevented His arrest by the Jews. Since Jesus said that He is not the King of the Jews, then the servants He was referring to were not the Jews or even His disciples who came from the Jews, but He was referring to His servants of the Kingdom of God, His angels… for He had also said, “Do you think I cannot call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

He knew He is the Peace Offering of God to first the Jews and then the Gentiles, coming into this world without His army, without His war armour, and only displaying His peace time powers – healing the sick, driving out demons, multiplying the food, calming the storm, raising the dead – all of which are powers designed to make the peace with the Jews and the Gentiles. All His initial miracles are like peace offerings that a king sends with his envoys to open dialogue for peaceful coexistence. Had the Jews accepted the Peace Offering, then they would have had their kingdom restored to them, for He Himself had been living in the household of their king… Mary, mother of James and Joses. If Israel was to be restored as a kingdom, it would have been done through James the Younger… and certainly the power of the Lord would have been sufficient to restore sovereignty to Israel if she had repented. He even extended these gifts to the Gentiles… to the Roman centurion and to the Canaanite woman.

However, the very fact that He appeared only with the powers of peace and not of war, as a mild gentle Man in ordinary clothes, and not as a King on His white charger in full battle armour… the kingdom of darkness, the prince of darkness tried to attack Him first without provocation. Then the leaders of the Jews attacked Him again without provocation, for Jesus never said He would take away their priesthood. He was unconcerned about what they did in their houses. It was when He saw the abuse of His Father’s house that He got angry. And when the Jews handed Him over to Rome, the chief representative of the kings of the world, again Rome attacked Him without provocation, for He had not broken a single Roman law. Indeed, He encouraged those who were rebellious against Caesar, saying, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s…”

In His apparent weakness and peaceable state, Jesus knew that His appearance would bring war because the kingdoms of darkness, of Israel and of the world would align together and kill Him, the Son of God. Such an open act of treachery against a foreign envoy can only invite retaliation… and if that Envoy is the Son, the Heir Himself, then the retaliation will be of the utmost prejudice as they say.

However, the absence of friends who would take up the invitation on resurrection morning to go as His brothers to Galilee meant that the Kingdom of God was unable to open and launch its retaliatory action against the kingdoms of darkness, of Israel and of the world with the degree of prejudice it warrants.

In the provision of God’s foreknowledge and grace… the church was launched in Jerusalem and the Kingdom of Heaven was preached and the Holy Spirit worked with them to confirm the message. And through the last two millenniums, the Kingdom of Heaven has been receiving the refugees who repented, believed and died to await the resurrection when they will be returned to their former homes, although glorified on New Earth. However, the agenda for the Kingdom of God could not go ahead, for no brothers were found amongst the friends, servants or disciples who did not succumb to the rebellion. For not even Paul could withstand the advice of the Judeazers and finally Paul himself succumbed in Acts 21 to the disciples of James in Jerusalem.

For 2000 years no one has dared question the obedience of the eleven… no one. The myth of the obedience of the eleven then gave rise to further myths and heresies as men then claimed direct descendent from their offices, even going as far as having themselves called ‘holy father’ when Jesus clearly commanded, “And do not call anyone on Earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and He is in Heaven.”

Now as it is written, the Holy Spirit has revealed the eleven have paid for their disobedience, and by God’s grace they and those who are martyred are returning with Jesus, the King of kings, to rule in the millennium… those who are Jewish over the twelve tribes and those who are Gentiles over the other tribes. However, even the martyrs cannot return until all Scriptures are fulfilled and war is declared formally.

For God sent Jesus peaceable, like a lamb to the slaughter… and because they did slaughter Him, so now the Kingdom of God has the right to retaliate and to avenge for the death of the Son.

Now going back to what Jesus said in John 18.36… see, hear and understand what He said, “My kingdom is not of this world. … But now My kingdom is from another place.” See, hear, understand and tremble in fear, all you kings of the Earth… for indeed Jesus’ kingdom was not of this world, but because of your mistreatment of Him, your continued refusal to believe Him, much less honour Him, and your complicity in His murder, Jesus said to Pilate, “But now My kingdom is no longer not of this world, but is now from another place.” When you are referring to ‘another place’, other than a place that is not of this world… it can only mean that the other place is of this world. In His weakest state, having been deserted and beaten… Jesus made the strongest statement against all the kingdoms of the world – His promise, “But now My kingdom is from another place,” this world. For the Kingdom of God is amongst us, it is within us… and when the Holy Spirit is ready, it will come forth with such power that indeed it will bring about days of distress unequalled since the beginning of this world.

For to date, the world has never yet experienced the powers of war of the Kingdom of God… only its powers of peace – of healing, of receiving the dead and so on – and it has rejected them. God asked Job, “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?”

Go and ask Pharaoh what it is like to fight God when He is in the mood for war. Ask the Jerichoans, ask the Canaanites… what it is like when God marches out for war and not for peace… and hear their reply. They will all tell you, “Accept the peace offering. Repent and live.” Yet those days that are coming are days of distress unequalled since the beginning of the world. “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom He has chosen, He has shortened them.”

When there are finally sons of God on this Earth whose obedience permits them to be kings of the Kingdom of God and to live as kings… then the time of war begins. For the kings of the Earth will have to respond to the arrival of the kings of the Kingdom of God who are armed not for peace but for war.

So then consider this about yourself: So you believe, good… but even James the Younger has written: Even the demons believe that—and shudder. So you are a disciple, good… so were the twelve, yet they still disobeyed. So you are a servant, good… so was Balak, so was Nicolas, so were a third of the angels, yet they rebelled. So you are a friend, good… so was Peter, yet he denied Christ and never agaped Him when asked three times. So you are a son of God, good… but there were sons of God before who disgraced the Father and brought forth abominations. And you seek to be a king, good… but remember Absalom and Adonijah, both sons of David who would be king.

Now that you have gone through the training, forget and count it as nothing whatever you have gained as a believer, disciple, servant, friend or even son… but concentrate on being just simply the one who obeys. It is the believer, the disciple, the servant, the friend and the son who obeys who can be king.

Have you got what it takes to be a king? Obey and you will see. Go to Galilee and you will find out. For the Kingdom of God awaits and the blood of its King cries out for justice.

Amen
