“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.”

The shortening of the days of distress is so that some will survive.  If the flood of Noah in which only eight survived when the full brunt of the waters was unleashed to the fullness of all the days allotted for them – 40 days – then you can see that if the fullness of the days is unleashed at this time in the coming distress, then not even Noah and his ark would survive.  For these coming days of distress will exceed all that have preceded it.  Had the Lord withheld the waters after 10 days, 20 days, 30 days, or perhaps even 39 days, there might have been more survivors than the eight in the ark.  But because those days were not shortened, no one except those in the ark survived.

This time however, if the days are not shortened, the Holy Spirit knows that not even His elect will survive, much less the elect of the Lord Jesus who must remain alive to ensure the fulfilment of this scripture:    “At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And He will send His angels and gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the Earth to the ends of the Heavens.” So severe is the destruction of the days to come that Jesus said, “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive.  But for the sake of the elect, whom He has chosen, He has shortened them.” So make no mistake of the horror of the days that are coming.  So terrible are those days that even the elect of the Holy Spirit cannot survive the fullness of the allotted days.

As such, the code of the elect is not just a code of conduct, but rather, it is the way the elect can learn and behave to be set apart so that there is such a group for the Holy Spirit to have so that He can shorten the days.  Not only for the sake of His elect, but also for the sake of the elect of Jesus Christ.

Consider this scenario:  If Noah was not available for God to choose and use to build the ark when He had decided, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the Earth is filled with violence because of them.  I am surely going to destroy both them and the Earth,” would that have stopped the Lord God from destroying all peoples and the Earth?  No, except there would be no one to continue the line of Adam.  If Noah had not finished the ark, would that have stopped the Lord from sending the flood?  No, for He already had said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the Earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” And every word of God must be fulfilled, for the scriptures cannot be broken.  However, the availability of Noah permitted God to delay and remit this sentence and judgment of the Earth until later.  For indeed, all the people, men and animals and even the Earth will still be destroyed completely.  It is just that Noah delayed the execution of the sentence, permitting a degree of salvage of God’s plans for men through his line through Shem that would lead to the birth of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and finally Jesus.  John saw the carrying out of the delayed execution and recorded it for us in Revelation 20.7-21.2… the final destruction to fulfil Genesis 6.7 will occur then.

So likewise, the availability of men and women for whom the Holy Spirit can once more set apart for the work He has for them permits these days to be shortened from their allotted number so that there will be survivors.  Survivors to fulfil scripture and survivors to be those who will be the instruments of resurrecting God’s original plan for Adam and this Earth.  And those plans will find the fulfilment of their resurrection in the millennium under the Kingship of Jesus Christ and His kings.

So that, like Noah, the availability of men and women, whose righteousness in God’s eyes is based entirely on faith in Christ and whose works are based entirely on the practice of the words of Jesus under the Lordship of the Holy Spirit, will permit the remitting of the judgment of this Earth and all its people to a later date.

As such, the purpose of the existence of the Lord’s elect is not only as the sign that all the scriptures are about to be fulfilled, but that you exist for the sake of the elect.  Elected for the sake of the elect so that they may survive to remain alive until Jesus arrives, to be gathered up to be with Him in the clouds.  For it is not for the sake of the elect of Matthew 24.22 that these days will be shortened by the Lord, the Spirit, but rather, it is for the sake of His elect whom He has chosen that they will be shortened.  It is then the sure and full knowledge of this that defines the purpose of the life of an elect of the Holy Spirit.

Whereas most are taught to use the word of God to fulfil their lives by the preachers of faith in God and those who preach partial observance of the law as equal to faith in Christ, elects are to learn to use their lives to fulfil the word of God.

To use your life to fulfil the word of God sums up all that Jesus tried to teach His disciples about losing one’s life for His sake to find it.  It sums up the cost and purpose of discipleship for all who are chosen to be disciples.  It sums up the teaching of serving others as He came to serve.  It sums up the purpose of listening to Him and practising His words.  It sums up the sacrificial life that we are to have in our service to our King.

To see your life as the instrument with which the word of God is fulfilled – your life as the witness that testifies to the truth of all the scriptures that have been written concerning men from the day they were born a sinner to the day they stand glorified as sons of the Most High God in Jesus Christ.  Those who are infantile still will not understand, and even if they think they do, they cannot perceive its full depth.

For if indeed sacrificial death for the sake of Christ and His testimony could fulfil all the scriptures needed for His return, then there would be no need to keep any of the elect alive until He arrives.  However, there are scriptures that cannot be fulfilled if the elect of Jesus, His church, are all raptured before His arrival on clouds of glory.  As such, as much as sacrificial death will permit the numbers of those whose souls are beneath the altar to be fulfilled, it is sacrificial life that will see the fulfilment of scripture.

For indeed, if you do not yet hate your life in this world now, you will when the days of distress are increased, especially if you have not the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is only when you come to the place where you hate your life in this world and yet choose to live in this world that sacrificial life begins.

So while the rest continue to use the word of God to fulfil their lives, you will now begin to explore what it means to use your life to fulfil the word of God.  And you might understand why the mighty Paul wrote these words:  …genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

The elect of the Holy Spirit must exist and continue to exist until the Lord Jesus arrives, for without the elect – His elect – the Holy Spirit will not shorten these days, and if these days are not shortened, no one, no one will survive.

So you have the reason, the history, the faith, the work and the purpose of the elect made clear so that when others doubt your right to exist, you will not believe but know that you have to exist or else the scripture is broken.
